I bought it a few weeks ago when I got a £15 voucher for £10 at Morrisons and have used it a few times and hugely impressed as got a TomTom but wanted a satnav app on my phone and will not be bothering with my TomTom anymore now -so I would recommend it!

Thank you for posting this

Brilliant for a tenner, not as good as Tom Tom, But they cost a tad more.
Great backup especially if you left your Tom Tom at home.
Definately recommend:

Okay, I know this is going to sound idiotic but I don't s'pose this works on the Touch does it? You probably have to have the phone part for it to work, but the TomTom and the like aren't phones so how do they work??

...I'm really not that bad when it comes to technonlogy but phones and satnavs are a bit of a mystery to me!;-)
#12
krinkle, the iphone has a gps in the phone which tells the software where it is and the touch doesnt have one, hence why it wont work with a touch, nothing to do with the net
#13
Heat added will give it alook

...aah, simple as that eh! ...you'd have thought they could put a gps chip in the Touch, it would'nt take up much room would it...maybe a future version eh!?

You could always use the new free Google Sat Nav (http://www.google.com/mobile/navigation/)

Even though it's still in beta, I think it's going to pull sat nav prices down big time!

My bad...
>> Note: Google Maps Navigation is currently only available in the United States on phones that run Android 1.6 and higher, including the Nexus One.

Apparently this is working with a hacked app - no need to root either. Will try myself when I get home today and report back. Didnt know this so have some rep!

Without looking on the lovely google first, can anyone comment if this satnav software has safety cameras in the database? Many thanks.

Anyone know of a good sat nav for Androids?
#27
I use a 3GS and recommend Co Pilot (£27 or so)

I used copilot frequently on my g1 and found it better than tomtom on my iphone. I will be downloading the iphone version soon

I've been looking at NDrive for a while and this is a brilliant price.

I also noticed this morning that the Hong Kong version is available for free for a short time, so I downloaded this as a test. Obviously, it only works in Hong Kong (ahem), but gives you a good idea of how customisable the app would be and how well it works.

Yes it does.

I bought this on Friday at this reduced price as a backup to my standalone TomTom. I have been testing it out over the weekend on some decent drives - 40-50 mile trips and it has performed superbly. I wasn't sure about the GPS hardware in the iPhone but this picked up a location fix in about 3 seconds and stays locked on - this is without any external hardware - just the iPhone sitting on my dashboard.
Software is very well featured and supports full UK postcodes. Searching, rerouting etc. is very fast and the screen update is quick and smooth. Some features are a little buried away - there isn't an advanced planning mode as an example but you can use itineraries to achieve this result and some people complain about only a small number for POIs for each category but I think this isn't much of an issue - why not just use a free app like 'around me' to find a local McDonalds!!
It doesn't have as many preferences as TomTom or CoPilot but the Options are sensible such as shortest or quickest route, MPH or KPH, Day and Night map templates, Pedestrian routes etc.
Also displays time and distance to location, current and local speed, ETA etc., Speed cameras, overhead or 3D view etc.
At this price it is an absolute steal. If I used SatNav all day I would probably stick with my standalone TomTom but since I always have my iPhone on my and it performs so well, I'll probably be selling my TomTom now.
#32
Downloaded and it cant find 3 postcodes including my own and my street is an A road thats been here about 90 years; it thinks I am about 2 miles away from where I live. Bit of a worry, hopefully a reboot a few times will help
#33
Is this anygood with the small screen of the iphone when used in a car?
#34
Answers probably no, but, can you play your music whilst using the app ?

just tested for you and it does

(Of course if it cant find my house or where I want to go i will be driving around in circles anyway)
#36
Nice one, well worth a tenner then ........ gonna buy it, nice to have a back-up as previously mentioned
#37
I dunno if anyone has said in the 3 previous pages, but last week Ordinance Survey released their maps under a licence which basically says anyone can use their map data for free so long as they credit OS, so in the next few weeks I would expect to see a bunch of very cheap SatNav apps which have full maps of Britain.

Yes it does.

Ok cool thanks. I considered it, but the GPS World App for camera locations is better suited (better camera databases from what I can tell), as I have built-in satnav already in my car. Thanks nonetheless.
#39
Used it for a 100 mile trip yesterday and it worked very well gps signal was good but would it did drop occasionally and always came back. More a hardware issue than with Ndrive which has a smooth interface and easy to use £9.99 is a bargain
#40
it's a brilliant piece of software nr tomtom quality bargain
