Quote from Nero website:

"Nero Essentials/OEM
Nero Essentials/OEM are versions of Nero that do not contain all the features of the retail version.
Please note that the recorder manufacturers, who bundle their hardware with Nero software, decide which features will be implemented in the Nero Essentials/OEM version so Essentials or OEM versions do not have the full functionality of a full version."

Also:

"OEM represents "Original Equipment Manufacturer". These versions are normally sold to customers with bundled hardware like recorders or pc systems. The sale of these versions without the hardware (recorders, pc systems etc.) is allowed in Germany, Austria, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and China. It is not allowed to sell these versions without the related hardware in all other countries."

So this software should only be sold with a piece of hardware and it doesn't have all the features of Nero 8. Just a heads up:)

Yes, remember this isn't Nero 8 full. As a normal price this is only 3.99 from ebuyer, and as blister said is only supposed to be sold with hardware.

Great find, HOT HOT HOT

Yeah You don't get the nero burning rom with this but nero express which is a wizard based interface which is ideal for the average user.

The commercial stuff is encyrpted, nero 8 wont remove encryption so the answer is no to backing up disney stuff. you can download dvd shrink from the web for free.. just google dvd shrink 3.2 and bingo

For the average user I would just go with this nice freebie program:-

http://www.deepburner.com/

It's very functional, nice interface and saves spending any money at all :D

No you would need to crack the protection first using a program such as dvd43 or anydvd

Why am I always too late with the advice:oops:

not being able to do disc to disc on the free version seem a bit of a limitation.

Nero Essentials is truly awful.

I got it a while back; as I have bought Nero 4,5 6 & 7 in my time.
Nero Esential only allows you to burn CD's & VCD.
No DVD burning and not even SVCD !!! For that you have to buy the full version.
#18
I got this from scan a few weeks ago, so few features that I reverted back to nero 7 ultimate.

You don't even get nero burning rom - which I find ESSENTIAL.

It's not really expired

Another freebie burner highly thought of.

No idea how well it plays under Vista, though.

It says 'Discontinued'.

They have 6 available at £3.99 here:

But the original deal has sadly expired.

Nero 7 takes up less processor performance than Nero 8 so I advise anyone to stick with version 7. Nero OEM essentials is just a stripped down version of the full product and is often bundled free with hardware.

£3 - £4 is about the going rate for the OEM essentials version, so the deal is about right.

Hi everyone. I am doing this product for only 3.49 + 1.09p+p. Pm me if anyone wants.

all versions of nero since v4/5 have been awful (and it was never great to start with).

Imgburn will replace most/all functions of nero essentials and do it far better. and of course it is free. if you have anydvd running in the background you can just copy an original dvd direct to a dvd9 with it (obviously if you want to burn to a dvd5 you'll have to use dvdrebuilder, dvdshrink, dvdfab or one of the many other 1clicks).
