It can we tricky even my Nest the Nest registered installer had to call back as he hadn't fitted wired it correctly (gravity fed 25 year old system)
Nest offer a 100% money back guarantee if bought from them and installed.

You do get a choice of 4 colours too. I highly recommend the stand not placing it on the wall.

Received mine today from Amazon. Shrink wrapped, though when shrink wrap was taken off, the seal was broken and opened the box to find an old Hard Drive instead of a nest! Was furious and got on to the phone to Amazon, who are obviously brilliant with Customer Service. Though just a warning if you're in the London area, it was a professional scam job and I would assume it's more than just one shrink wrapped box that they have done!

I doubt it was Amazon, probably more like a sneaky so and so "returning" it to Amazon. Was shrink wrapped so probably hard for them to even tell.

Photo of the "Nest" I received. They were kind enough to bubble wrap the Hard Drive though...

What's on the hard drive! Use a data recovery tool :)

Haha, unfortunately I didn't venture that far to see what was on the drive. Though it was labelled PORN :D

The Amazon deal has expired now, unfortunately.

In case this info is useful to anyone looking at these in the future, I picked one up from PC World on Monday (same price at the time), installed it yesterday and I'm very impressed so far.

As a fairly competent DIYer, I found it easy to wire in to a Worcester Bosch 37CDi combi boiler, although I had to consult the boiler manual too as the (simplified) Nest installation instructions for a 230V combi imply that the Heat Link cuts the power to the boiler completely when the thermostat gets up to temperature, which isn't quite the case. Not a big challenge, but just something that required a bit of thought and a knowledge of electrical wiring certainly helped.

The wireless range between the Heat Link (that connects to the boiler) and the thermostat is impressive and works through multiple solid walls in my house, unlike my previous wireless Worcester Bosch digistat that had a very poor range, forcing me to install it in the adjacent kitchen (a far-from-ideal location). The app works well, even on my older Nexus 4 Android smartphone (tested while away from home) and programming the timer for a whole week took less than a minute via the web interface on the PC (you can also do this on the app).

Hopefully it will prove to be reliable !
