Wanted to buy a Nest thermostat and couldn't find any decent deals. Then saw they were sold at B and Q. Being over 60 I went armed with my Coffin Dodgers discount card and picked one up this morning. Cost a mere £161.10. Hope I can fit it OK.

Has any one got these?
Do they actually save you money?

I have the BG Hive, which is similar. Don't think it's actually saved me any money, but its handy to be able to control the heating when you are out of the house (and show off with)

Lovely bit of kit. Just installed so can't comment on saving yet

Was really interested in these but when comparing against Hive and Tado realised that the Nest doesn't control hot water at all, which is a big thing missing for me. Great concept for all of them, so should begin to save you money - albeit with the cost of the smart thermostat to pay for first!

I'm interested but put off by the added installation cost (i'm no diy electrician or plumber). Hive seems to have it thrown in for the price at a small extra cost.

In the end I've ordered the Salis IT500 as it looks easier to install and seems to do more of what I want. Also I was put off by a few horror stories on the NEST for example the software auto-updates and some people have found they've lost internet connection when this has happened. I wouldn't want to be away from home with a unit that wouldn't talk to me. I'll be taking the NEST back for a refund.

Have Salus IT500 installed, works great. Cost me £150 from local plumbing shop.

Good idea with this, I think this is the best deal at the moment. I missed the John Lewis / Amazon black friday deal (£149.99) so think this is hard to beat!

Surely the deal here is the over 60's card which gets the 10%?

Could make for a lot of threads if we post a RRP deal - 10% for every item they sell.

It is but then I want a Nest and have been looking for the best place to get it from. If this deal wasn't posted I wouldn't have found it when I searched and never thought about it. So for that reason alone I am grateful for this post even if the deal is really the 10% at B&Q.

That is genuinely good to hear. :)
