Not really, no price, no merchant, absolutely pointless. It might be the first time posting but if you've ever been on the site before you'll see almost every thread has the price and merchant in the title.

Totally unnecessary comment from you towards a new poster on the forum. Far better to be friendly to people and help them out instead of putting them off!!

FWIW: The price was there to begin with, underneath the thumbnail of the item, and the retailer could be easily identified from the "HMV reviews" link that was also there all along.

taurus08: Thanks for posting & Don't let this put you off.

Other retailers had these with both XP & Android, so I wonder whether this one has both MS OSs?

I'm using the netbook right now lol. I dropped mine a few times though and the screen has issues. Might buy another.

Agreed with badass... don't want it getting all mse style vague deals here :-)

I'd tried that but it gets boring on a daily basis.

Which is fantastic if you open the deal, but when you are scanning through 10 pages of deals having to do that everytime would waste hours.
Didnt you open the deal up to post your comment? Surely these posts you have been making in this thread have also been wasting your time? These types of comments remind me of playground bullies that have nothing better to do with their time.
Everybody has to start from somewhere, I just hope next time you find yourself in a noob situation I hope others are a little more understanding than you were. At least the op made an effort to help offer a deal to others which, should be applauded in its own right.

Reading reviews, doesn't seem great. 3 cell battery just makes me laugh, You'd probably get 2 hours usage out of it... max.

I bought one of these from Sainsbury's about 6 months ago. Same spec 532H with N450 Atom processor. Battery life is pretty good. Much more than the 2 hours you suggest but less than the claimed 8 hours, 3.5. to 4 being typical.

Mine came with Windows XP. It's a shame HMV can't say which OS comes with the ones they supply. I'd always choose the full version of XP over the starter version of Win7. My other PCs have XP so a common OS suits me.

I mostly use mine at home, sat in front of the TV. However, it has travelled with me on my motorcycle around France and it works well being fully compatible with my Garmin Satnav & Mapsource software so route planning is a doddle. SD card reader makes transferring photos from my camera very easy too.

I'm pretty sure this is Windows 7 with a 6 cell battery. I think they put Windows 7 / xp becuase one of the colour combinations comes with a 3 cell battery and xp, (AO532h-2997 ) But this one I think is the (AO532h-2730 ). Plus also seen it in HMV and it was def Windows 7.

Received today - 6 cell with windows 7
£170.99 with student dicount with quidco tracking at a massive £1.79

I'm using one right now. Good little machines.

I guess the six cell gives 4-5 hours battery life ?

I used to have an Nc10 which was great, except i found video such as iplayer / youtube was jumpy.

Are the processors in these newer notebooks (N450) able to cope better for video ? Would tvcatchup be watchable ?

I have used mine to watch BBC iplayer (streamed) and a downloaded avi from a torrent site. Works fine, although the vent pumps out a lot of heat so make sure it is well ventilated and not sitting on your lap. It will happily play a DVD too, from an external optical drive.

Seems a duplicate post of this thread:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/10-1-acer-aspire-one-160gb-black-wi/807514

the links go to the exact same pages as this deal. A member in his post commented he'd rec'd a red/black one:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/10-1-acer-aspire-one-160gb-black-wi/807514?p=10057725

Price has remained constant since as I was on the look out for the same netbook but bought a white one from curry's instead for £189:

Anyone who has seen one of these (or in fact) any of the netbooks in store in HMV, would you be able to tell me where abouts they are located?

Going tomorrow to have a look for one, will they be behind the tills, in the gaming department or where lol??
#26
Thanks.

Ordered one for my parents Christmas as a netbook is probably more than enough in a computer for them.

For those asking asking above they are only sold in selected HMVs (Edinburgh Princes St does) but they are £10 dearer in store. You can find them where all the ipods and docking stations etc are.

Excellent deal!! Ordered one for my pap!

I bought this just before Christmas , comes with windows 7 starter which is a simplified bare bones version of the OS usually seen on a desktop or a higher spec laptops. I haven't used any other netbooks before but i have used plenty of laptops and PC's in my time and I think this is a great little gadget for what is, so far i am very impressed with it performance wise, i have installed a high end 3d modeling package which can push any computer to its limits and it actully works lol, appears to work pretty well on basic low poly 3d modeling. as for word processing, watching films and viewing youtube content it does all thoses things very well. I installed Google chrome for web browsing and that works very fast but is obviously subject to your internet connection.

I think it is really good for the price ;)
