This is £1 more than lovefilm BUT this has 720p HD films/tv, netflix recommend you have a 4mb connection.

Netflix also has 5.1 audio support, lovefilm doesn't.

The film/tv selection is limited at the moment, much more content will be added over the coming months.

No tv/bluray player has this built-in as an app yet, the xbox 360 console has it already, the ps3 might.

Anyone notice previous netflix thread turning spam ?

Installed, free trial, works perfectly with android. It reccomended Starship Troopers to stream and it did so flawlessly. Epic :)
#3
Got it working on 360 and iPad. Watched one episode of The Office (US) and Mythbusters. Content is limited - but okay once you don't needed super new stuff. The content will supposedly triple if they can get other deals sorted.

I think I will be making good use of the trail :)

Yes, I wondered about that.

Sounds like it could be very promising at only £5.99 a month. Either browsing the available titles on the website only shows some of the stuff available, or there isn't much on there yet. Either way, I am presuming that they will add a lot more over the next few months, so I think I will wait before wasting a 1 month trial on a limited selection.
#5
If you cancel does the 1 month free trial end imediately?

Cannot wait for Arrested Development's return on Netflix next year! Might even go so far as to sign up (for the months they're on) so I can watch them! So awesome! Netflix rocks because of this!

Signed up, thanks OP for the heads up. :)

Tinodz - how did you get this working on the 360? I've been on the App Marketplace and couldn't find any sign of Netflix... :(
#10
Are the TV programmes available the complete series?
#11
Could be quite good if they get better programmes. Not going to compete with lovefilm with current library.

Choice of titles very limited.A lot of old stuff and i mean really old.
Will need to improve amount of films if it is to take off.
£5.99 a month is very reasonable.

cant find the iphone/ipad app in the store yet, all seems a bit premature

Arrested development is being replayed from the start on FX this month.

Also BIG two things over love film.....

1 = Cancel online any time you want. (no need to call them)

2 = 24 hour tel support... Questions call 0800 096 6379.

We recently tried the lovefilm streaming side of things..
The quality on some of them was pretty shocking, selection seemed terrible at the time too.
Will have to have a look at netflix i think, can anyone comment on streaming quality on a 40"+ tv?

Currently the UK Netflix UK app is not on the 360 as of 8:30am, BUT there is a work around.

1 = Create your netflix UK account from the OP's link.

2 = Create a USA hotmail account http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080113093816AAIGzz5

3 = Create a new gamertag on the 360 using your new USA hotmail log in and password.

4 = Download the netflix app.

5 = Sign out of your USA 360 account then log into your normal UK 360 gamertag, the netflix app will still be here from when you downloaded it on the USA account.

6 = Just sign into it using your UK Netflix 30 day free trial account.

Xbox live gold is needed to stream the films, but i can confirm it DOES work and the movies are mostly all in HD AND have 5.1 surround sound.

If love film don't match or up their game, Netflix will be getting my money!

Can someone direct me to the page where I can have a look at their video library? Going through the main Netflix site doesn't seem to be working. Surely I don't need to sign up just to see the streaming library.

Looks a very limited library, also noted that love film now has a unlimited streaming package now for a £1 less at £4.99

On a 47" it's spot on, a lot of content is in HD. Even the non HD content is very nice too.

Lovefilm is crap quality streaming though, you get what you pay for.
#24
Does Netflix stream HD then? Sounds great.

My thread got taken down last night on Netflix:(

anyway, this has not appeared on the Sony TV sets, anyone work for Sony on here advise when it will be coming?
#26
I also read that Netflix reckon you only need 0.5MB of bandwidth, so they must be using some impressive compression
1 Like #27
There will most definitely be more trial periods in the future so I'll wait until the library is worth something. Doing it now is a bit of a waste unless you're ready to subscribe anyway.

There's definitely better content on this Netflix already. However unless they get more stuff I'll be cancelling. Most of the 4od stuff is free on YouTube already.

Once you log in on the 360, you have loads of films ALL in HD with 5.1, i have lovefilm on my 360 too and the netflix offering is much more impressive!

The HD takes like 20 seconds to get to full strength and stabilize, but very good quality for streaming.

The App IS up on 360. Just go to Bing on the 360 dashboard, type in "Netflix" and it will be the first search option - you have to actually type "Netflix" dont pick one of the recommendation searches that pop up.

For the time being only Samsung Internet TVs are officially supported, as stated on the Netflix website. I suppose it's only a matter of time before other manufacturers jump on the wagon...
#34
Anyone know when this will work on the Apple TV 2? I've read some recent articles stating the latest ATV2 update would enable streaming but I don't see Netflix under any of the options.
#35
I'd be tempted if my internet connection wasn't pants. Unless someone can tell me it works fine on a 2mb connection?

Thanks for the heads up. I am keen to try this but I will probably wait for the Love Film trial to finish. Anyone who is trialling it, what is the image quality like? Does it buffer? What is the kid's selection like?

The Love Film streaming isn't bad (at least not as bad as the reviews I read online). I have a 11.5Mb link through BE. I am streaming at the moment with a PS3 (connected to broadband modem via Ethernet) and it's working reasonably well. I have not had it buffer or get blocky yet *fingers crossed*. Probably my only gripe is the lack of selection of children's films (visible from the PS3).

WOW why do all of this?!!? Just go to my apps, hit search type Netflix and install the App. Just because it's not on the main screen doesn't mean it's not there. I have had it installed since 3am and running fine this way ;)
