Arlo security camera.

Cheapest I have seen these cameras.

Completely wireless, it can be placed anywhere within your network. The supplied magnetic mounts are ideal for placing around the home or garden. Simply snap the cameras in and out of their mounts, or simply rest them on any flat surface.

Note: Needs Arlo base station

why do you need a base station to connect to an ip camera. seems like they are just trying to milk you for money

720p - Netatmo and Canary are both 1080p - worth paying a bit extra imo

Insane if you buy this.

Bought a kit with 8 cameras on amazon for £130. 2 hours running cables and job done. These would cost £700+ Inc the base station etc

I appreciate this is not for everyone but these cameras are completely wire free so for people like me who have 'wire phobia', they are perfect.

720 dont waste your money

Yes im guessing that system is 720 which is the same best sticking to 1080

This will be increasingly discounted as Netgear have a product update due imminently.

Arlo Pro is out (hence currys cutting the price of these) although its still over priced and only 720p...

Better value for money would be to get yourself a Pi 3, Pi Camera (or USB webcam), a 16-32GB SD card and load up MotionEyeOS.

All you need is a mains socket and a wifi network and your yourself an surveillance system for <£100

These are great camera's if you dont want the hassle of cables and wires. obviously wont suit everyone. the pro is out soon, but these cameras are compatible with the pro base and vice versa everything works with everything.. backward and forward compatible.

The Netatmo is £250 and requires mains power. It does have the security light though. I don't know anything about Canary, thought they just did an indoor cam?

I think the Arlo is for anyone that wants full wireless.

Don't suppose you could point to a decent guide online? Tempted to go for a proper system but afraid of extensive drilling/wiring! This Arlo seems like an easy way to do it.

I got my Arlo the other day and its so easy to setup, my wife didn't want wires everywhere and im not in the position to be able to run them through walls without causing havoc. Most people who haven't tried it will slate it but most reviews are from users, check out currys website generally 4-5 stars most places. Its worth getting spare rechargeable batteries they last around 4 months depending on use.
The best place to put it is below an upstairs window so you can reach out and change batteries, but also high enough so people cant just pick it up and walk off with it.

Good find op. ordered :)

Good price, good product. Have two, one at the rear and one at the front. Movement activation works well too.

great item an set up is easy , image quality fine along with night vision , due to no wires you can put them in obscure places people dont expect
the app also stores images for free whereas other companies charge
-- one negative -- burns through batteries which are not the cheap versions

Interesting. Are there any guides around that go through how to do this?
