DG834N:

Manufacturer's Description
NETGEAR's DG834N RangeMax NEXT wireless ADSL modem router provides maximum coverage and bandwidth, enabling you and your entire household to simultaneously connect to multiple Internet services and online media.
To explain the capabilities of this RangeMax NEXT wireless modem router further: Imagine connecting to the Internet from anywhere in the house, without a cable. Then imagine everyone in the house connecting at the same time, and all doing things online or over the network - all at the same time: Watching a Hi-Definition video or TV programme in the living room, browsing the Internet in the study, playing online games in the den, downloading MP3 music from the dining room - all at the same time. This is what RangeMax NEXT is capable of, all over a single home

The DG834N Wireless Modem Router utilises a technology called 'Steady-Stream', which ensures your wireless network offers a steady constant connection, with sufficient bandwidth available to stream, download, browse the Internet and transfer files all at the same time. With RangeMax NEXT you should not experience any more frustrating interruptions or freezes, just a constant connection that enables you and your household to use the Internet and wireless network as you choose, whenever you choose. Touchless WiFi Security makes creating the highest level of network security easy and includes industry standard wireless encryption standards for you to choose from: WEP, WPA-PSK, or WPA2-PSK. These security features enable you to 'lock-down' your home wireless network, protecting you against unwanted intruders. For further information on securing your wireless network.

Reviews
RangeMax NEXT extends the possibilities of your wireless home network by providing a Steady-Stream of up to 270Mbps, and is compliant with draft 802.11n. This next generation wireless standard utilizes advanced MIMO (Multi-In, Multi-Out) technology, which delivers incredible speed and range, and for the first time provides wireless interoperability at the highest speeds with other products with Intensi-fi. A RangeMax NEXT wireless network creates and maintains stable connections and enough bandwidth to surf the Internet, download MP3s, make Internet phone calls, share files, play network games, and stream high-definition videos, simultaneously at any distance or location in the home or small office. Because RangeMax NEXT is compatible with all legacy b and g wireless products, you are sure to be connected. Preset internal antennas and draft 11n-True-Test, high-performance testing and tuning, provide maximum performance and high-quality streaming every time. NETGEARs Smart Wizard provides easy setup including configuration of WEP, WPA-PSK or WPA-2 PSK WiFi security. Steady-Stream technology ensures you have enough streaming bandwidth to support all of your applications, all over your home, all at once.

WN511B:

My inlaws just upgracded to the rangemax (they have a £100 router+usb bundle at PCWorld reduced from £200 at the moment.)

Although there is some improvement in indoors range over 802.11g, it is not a great as you might hope looking at the blurb on the front of the box. The connection quality has gone up from about 15% with standard 802.11g to around 25% with rangemax. However, they do get far fewer dropouts than before, so they are happy with it.

I just bought the PCI card version package from MISCO. £93.99 Inc.Vat. They also do the PCMCIA version like you've posted for the same price.
I can't remember what the postage was as I split an order with a mate and we upgraded the postage to overnight. I think it was around £4 each so you're looking at £102 or less.

I've had dropouts and lockups on my PC. It seems to poll frequently and this is causing problems. Also, my outgoing port software keeps telling me the software is 'phoning home' rather a lot and I can't figure out why it needs to do that.

hiya dave, I need a new router for that reason too - the coverage of my current one is too patchy. I think the one your inlaws bought is the mimo-g type isn't it?
Has anyone got this n type router and card together? I would hate to order a dud, again!

I found these review on the interweb that seem to paint a pretty picture:

Wow ferengi thats a good price - I've been searching all evening trying to shave a few pounds off!
Grand Total £98.40 inc VAT @ (Lite 3 Day) (better than ebuyer super saver anyway!)

I think I might give this router a punt - and stay away from the netgear software and use windows? (have you tried this ferengi?)

Sounds familiar - it was the one with all the (pointless) blue flashing lights on the top. I must say that they are very happy with it as it has really reduced the drop outs they used to get. It is just that I was expecting a better improvement in the connection quality.

Well it arrived today and it is working great.
I am just using the standard built in centrino wireless on my laptop and am getting around 25-50% better speeds, with no deadspots in my house (unlike before with my speedtouch 780).
I haven't even tried the laptop card that came with the bundle - I may just keep it sealed and sell it.
Well pleased :)
