Have put direct links to your postings to make it easier for others

I'm inteseted in other peoples opions on this drive as I've been looking at a NAS for sometime and have nearly decided upon the QNAP TS-209 but its quite a bit more expensive compared to the posters Netgear? I have also been thinking about the synology models?

All comments negative or positive really appreciated :)

This is an excellent price for an excellent piece of kit.
Clearly a NAS is not going to appeal to everyone but this is a top drawer device at a very reasonable price, particularly given the free disk offer.

Seems a good price for the two disk Netgear NAS box. I have the 4 disk ReadyNAS NV+ and it's fantastic. I can now use the PS3 to stream video from the NAS box so I no longer have to transfer stuff from my pc to my media player.

Also, this unit comes with a free 500gb courtesy of Netgear :)

What would be the best approach to get a second harddrive to match the free one from Netgear - pressuming it's wise to have both drives the same ......

Cheers

Unless you know which one they are supplying this will be difficult?
eBuyer currently have a 1TB samsung for £59.99, I already have one of these drives so to my way of thinking I would fit two 1TB drives and hopefully sell the 500GB drive sealed new...

Roughly your looking at around £40 for a 500GB SATA drive... Making it around £220 for the unit complete with 2 x 500GB Drives? ...

I would recommend buying identical drives to match speeds etc?
Hope that helps?

Promotion ends 30th June!

thanks for adding the extra infomation, though this deal doesnt seem to be popular :)

Excellent buy - ordered! One small point; the Quidco is 3% of the ex-VAT price, so it's more like £4.68 but still worth having!
#10
Now showing £188.99 inc VAT, Expired then?

finally received my free 500GB drive.

mind you the promotion firm had send me two seperate emails
first saying no invoice then a few mins later stating they found the invoice but no barcode(friday past)

strange when invoice/claim form and barcode all cellotaped together... (finally resolved on the monday when they found all three items :) )

so be careful anyone claiming their drive
#14
sent my claim off in the week, how long did it take

sent my claim off in the week, how long did it take

sent mine away on Wed 24th June, received drive Fri 3 July

so just over a week (approx 10 days)

A lot quicker than I had expected :)

in the process of now transfering data from old usb drive to the NAS

GREAT, thanks !!

That was quick, as they 'upto' 28 days somewhere I read.........

I find the data transfer very quick compared to a Freecom NAS I have........

I've also had success in setting up the ReadyNasPhoto thingy ! Works a treat !

Cheers

Phil

(Wonder if the HDD will turn up this week ? )
