Thats a great price - I've bought two of these recently for ~£160 with the free drive offer and thought I was getting a great deal then (I also have two 4-bay ReadyNAS NV+'s) - so to see another 20 quid chopped off the price makes them an even better deal.

Hot!

Hi
Thanks for posting. I have added an image to your post.
This is a link, made by rayman, which explains how to add images in great detail. It’s worth taking a look at if you are going to post more deals in future : - http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/339941/how-to-post-and-host-images-for-thr/
It is good practice to also add the merchant and price to the title. It helps people who are just browsing through. And in my experience your post will get a few more “hot” votes.

The enclosure arrives with no drive - the offer is by redemption but it is pretty quick. WIthin a week of receiving my NAS, the 500gb drive arrived also. Now up and running!

Just looking for a 2nd drive for the mirror raid.

NAS stands for Network Attached Storage which means it is a small unit with a HDD in it to store movies, music, photos, etc on that will then stream that content to either an XBox360, PS3, another PC elsewhere in the house or other streaming devices such as the TViX network media player. It means you don't have to leave a noisy pc on all the time to be able to access content with other devices.

I believe this one also allows direct downloading to it via torrents and also I think somone mentioned newsgroup access.

Does anybody know if there is a size restriction on what capacity drives it supports? A lot of NAS drives wont support more then 1TB

Janz, a NAS will also consume a lot less power than a PC, is typically near silent and can act as a print server. If you have laptops in your house, more than one PC and want to print to a central printer, iPods or stremaing music players, games consoles etc. then these are worth looking at.

Midiman, seem to remember these going up to 1.5Tb drives which is a shedload of storage even when ripping films etc.

What sort of Transfer speeds can you expect with this? The basic NAS drives seem to offer about 2 to 3 MB/sec which is too slow for my requirements.

16-20Mb according to people on the ReadyNAS forum.

Do you mean megaybtes or megabits? I presume you meant to put MB rather than Mb!
If it is 16-20MB then that's a reasonable write speed.

Seems to vary from 8Mb to 50MB depending on who is posting. Check it out for yourself

Thanks for clarifying that for everyone that reads this thread; there's a big difference between Mb and MB. :)
