If you don't have hard drives to put in,go to the one on dabs, click on bundles & accessories and you can get the unit with 2x 1tb drives for £126.58. Last week it was £133.

was £65 odd with a free 500gb drive @novatech recently.....prob is these are rubbish.....have to sign onto a remote server to access your nas....wtf and lol

several other issues too, bespoke file naming convention, slow, limited gui interface, etc..check online forums

spend a bit more and get a whs server (like the hp mediasmart server), synology nas, qnap nas or build your own.....more flexible setup with all these

Eh? "Same price as the Ebuyer deal posted but good for those who don't have an account with them: "
It only takes a moment to make an account with Ebuyer.

Total storage capacity: 1024 GB is terrible.

Hardly "a bit more". Quite a bit more or a fair bit more would be more realistic

yes but then a firmware update fixes that so irrelevant
think only need to sign on remotely first time for general use

Can it cope with Advance format drives?

Actually, I recently bought one of these from elsewhere, I've only got 500gb hd as this is fine for my family needs.
It does a great job for us too. Stream music and video perfect to the one desktop, two laptops and xbox all at once.

Admittedly, it was fairly slow to transfer all the music and video but it's not as if I have to do it every day.
Also, despite supposedly needing a premium account to use on phone, it works through my 'allshare' on my Galaxy S

You don't need remote server to access files. You only need to use remote server to change certain preferences such as add a new user, change password and other settings.
I've got the drives mapped on the computers and everyone knows that shared stuff goes on 'familylibrary' and private goes on 'mylibrary'.
This way, I don't have to trawl through my wife's work things to find my work things and vice versa.

For the price, I have to say it's actually pretty decent for a basic family friendly NAS (so friendly even my wife can use it and that says alot!)

Not sure why this is expired? It's still in stock.
#11
Probably because it's been posted before. and it's same price on Dabs and Ebuyer.

last time posted from amazon was a different package (ie with 1tb drive) almost 2 months ago and being same price elsewhere is irrelevant
not expired

This is absolutely cack, cack, cack. It's just awful, if you want a decent NAS, don't buy it.

Lol, of course it is, what makes it a deal then? The whole idea it to find the cheapest, not post stuff that can be bought for the same price at several other retailers.

hardly, £50 is mega cheap but false economy...buying the netgear stora is akin to buying a car made of paper mache because its cheap....but its a pointless waste because you will chuck it in the bin soon after buying

anyway you could have buy a 2 bay synology nas for about £130 plus £41 for 1 tb drive...if thats alot more than fine, to me thats a bit more

I bought one of these a few months ago and cannot stress how much I hated it, it decides at random times that you can't copy files into folders that the previous day you could, permission right problems, delay and timeouts streaming to the PS3. I spent weeks looking on the Stora (Netgear) website looking for fixes to problems the unit causes and even thou a lot are fixable it’s all via the forum community. I work in IT and have never seen such a poorly supported device from its manufactures. I ended up getting so frustrated with it in the end I sold it on eBay at a loss and bought the Netgear Duo instead from Scan for £130, it's amazing the difference in quality and ease of use, it’s also faster at streaming due to the upgradeable cache memory. If by typing this I save one person from buying this piece of rubbish then I will be happy.

being the same price doesn't necessarily make it a good deal but obviously it never means its expired
