Was £50 on eBuyer not so long ago. Horrible box - requires access to the internet to be able to use (and has to be connected 24/7)

If you read the reviews on ebuyer it seems that there have been much better deals on this in the past.

I own this box, and all I can say is, if you buy it, be prepared. It's higher maintenance than Stella McCarthy, with just as many issues. I got it around the same price with the promotional deal of an extra 500GB drive. I've stuck to Samsung Eco Greens in there, which work for about a day, then crash in some way. I don't believe it to be the hard drives, but the firmware, and Netgear are aware of the problem, but in no hurry to fix it.

If you're lucky, you may not have been affected, but there warning is out there all over Google and Fakebook. I've also seen this for cheaper on eBuyer too, but wasn't with promotional hard drive, but haven't voted.

I second that.
I have one with 2x2TB and working fine. After getting over the initial shock, I'm happily using it. They have a new firmware with enhanced options now. I think one option is to make it local network only. I've not used that option. I just removed all 3rd party access.
This is an excellent site for customising :- http://www.openstora.com/phpBB3/ and http://www.openstora.com/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page

Sounds a bit buggy to me, I remember buying a similar box like this about 3 years or 4 years back from Netgear, and having no end of issues, sounds like they've not moved on in terms of development..

I got one! (....and then had to send it back and get it replaced).

But that said... I am suprised that they're still supporting it and have a strange love for it- but then I'm one of those people who don't mind taking a chance on a bargain and seeing how it works out- especially when there's a bit of a web-based community behind it supporting it (like my precious Joggler in that respect).

got one for work, used it for 2 months before we gave up and got something better save your £ not worth it!

This is a hot deal for the price, but the box is an absolute stinker. I bought one and took it back it was that rubbish. Seriously, if you'd like some good advice - don't buy this box.

BTW, instead of this I bought the Dlink DNS-320 - I couldn't possibly recommend this anymore - and it's only £10 extra! With Quidco too @ http://www.shop.bt.com/products/d-link-sharecenter-pulse-2-bay-network-storage-enclosure-78PQ.html

Hi willgimmence
I'm gonna get a NAS. How come the Dlink was so much better?
