I'm was shopping for the new iMac and was trying to get the best deal. If you don't include shopping in Apple's Education Store, then this is the next best deal.

Computer Warehouse are undercutting Apples own price for the recently updated iMac by a fiver. But not only that but they are throwing in a free Bamboo A5 tablet and pen (worth £35). Also If you go into the "configure" panel, they are offering Apple Care for £105 which is 35 pounds cheaper than if bought direct from Apple.

All in all you can save a good £75 on this package.

This deal isn't for everyone. But if your looking at getting the new iMac then thought this was good advice. Please do not go crazy on voting cold if you don like Macs. It's a good deal If your looking to buying this computer. Thanks.

Is being out of stock a better reason?

It only came out a couple of weeks ago. Doesn't look like they have had stock in yet. Won't be a long wait.

If you want to vote cold because of that, that's fine.

How about a cold vote for making me click thru the deal to see the price? In text mode I can't see the price otherwise

the best thing to do is have a friend, who owns a shop. Thats what i do whenever im buying apple stuff. Basically you can just buy it and claim the vat back, it's saved me hundreds of pounds on my old imac.

get an ibook for half the price and a PC or laptop for about £700

That isn't THIS computer. If you think THIS computer can be found cheaper then vote cold....

Why do people find that so hard to understand. :-D

Yeah that's a good way of doing it.

I just don't have a friend who owns a shop ;-)

JoeUk don't worry about trying to save your thread. It's cold, that's the way it goes with any Apple products on here.
Only the iPhone got mega hot after it's price was slashed.

Yeah well I tried to be nice and pass on a good deal. I guess people are just so ignorant when it comes to Macs all they see is name and instantly they get their backs up. It's a strange xenophobic reaction that I will never understand.

Me neither, but then again, I don't have £1400 to spend on a Mac and don't even know what a bamboo whossname is!

I am sure its nice if you are a tech head, but for me, its not what I would call a deal.

As I don't know enough about the product and, (if there are any on the market), the alternatives to the Apple offer, I will be neutral on this.

(Liked the attack on a contributor because of their Avatar! Tried that once, got killed by kindness, (cheers Broxy!)

Hot as you can't get it cheaper. I like macs even though I don't own one but maybe some day. I don't know why people hate macs. They are better then some of the PCs and you can dual boot mac os x and windows xp/vista! Tests show that Vista works better on macs then on standard PCs! ;)

'Xenophobic'?

Yea, that term doesn't really fit...

xenophobia |ˈzɛnəˈfəʊbɪə|
noun
intense or irrational dislike or fear of people from other countries : racism and xenophobia are steadily growing in Europe.
#21
"Xenophobia is a fear or contempt of that which is foreign or unknown".
In the context the foreigner being Macs :)

Hey - illegal VAT fraud, why didn't I think of that? What a pity that Her Magesty's Customs and Excise have greater powers than the police. If you're going to defraud HMCE, you may as well just go steal one.

Thing is, the 3.06GHz is a CTO (Configure To Order) model, so it should never be in stock. The Bamboo deal is available on the 2.8GHz model which is top of the range in what's available off the shelf. So really the link should have been to the 2.8 model which is in stock there(and most other resellers of course).

Quite frankly. we pay WAYYYY too much TAX in this little country. So people will find ways around paying it. I don't blame them. When you think about it. Why the hell should we have to pay hundreds of pounds to the government for buying a computer. :x. All they go and do is give it to benefit leeches and pour it into a big hole called restructuring of public services (red tape). This government is ****. And Gordon Brown is the biggest idiot Prime Minister we have ever had. The next thing he will making up a TAX for will be fresh air!

LOL!!!

You should read this article:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7366258.stm

Prisons too comfortable to escape! What they should be doing is givien back to the society they stole from by cleaning the streets, generating electricity (yes - human hamster!), cleaning sewers, etc.

Not bloody having TV, toilets in their bloody cells, along with pool and football tables! I bet most people here don't have satellite TV and pool and football tables!

Maybe if these criminals did some work we wouldn't have to pay so many civil servants and rest of us would have to pay less taxes.

If you can't do the time - don't do the crime!

BTW - i wouldn't touch this peice of cr4p with a barge pole, severly overprice, like all apple stuff.

That's your opinion.

But lets just say this. They sell. They sell very well. Whyyy I hear you say. Because there are people out there willing to pay about 10% more that what it would cost to make the PC equivalent. Just because they prefer quality. Every aspect of this computer totally rips on a PC when it comes to quality and engineering. That's before mentioning the fact that this so called piece of **** is not effected by any PC virus. Nor is there any viruses for Macs. Or the fact that if needed you can run Windows XP or Vista. Or what about the fact that it comes with iLife, which is a package of applications that would cost you hundreds on a PC, and even then they wouldn't come close.

So sorry for trying to buy QUALITY at the best price possible.

Not really. I'm quite grounded in reality thank you. I've been quite polite to people who have been decent. But I have flamed at idiots who just talk out of their rear.

Oh and the "apple fanboy cliche"... Really, your going to pull that one. I hear this banded around the Internet. Apple Fanboy = Someone who blindly defends Apple no matter what it produces.
I'm certainly not that. I do voice my support for a product that is quality.

That laptop is sick!
Very cool if that is real carbon fibre.
Killer feature for me is the 15.4" screen with a resolution of 1680 x 1050. That is madness.
What's the price of that bad boy?
[EDIT] Found out it's priced like a Ferrari too :-(

Every aspect? You must be joking. You can't be seriously trying to tell me that you consider the mighty mouse's trackball as good quality.

Ignoring that and one of two other bits I can't deny that on the whole the iMac is well built, although I don't think it's designed particulaly well.

JoeUK

That's before mentioning the fact that this so called piece of **** is not effected by any PC virus. Nor is there any viruses for Macs.

But phising websites, online tracking and scam e-mails work just fine on a mac, having a mac doesn't make you immune to cyber crime.

I specced out a similar PC on www.pcspecialist.co.uk with a 3Ghz dual-core processor, 2GB of ram and a 9600GT and it came to £663, add an equivalent 24" monitor at £437 and that brings the total up to £1100. I don't think a copy of OS X and bluetooth support is worth the £285 premium - for that money you could get a blu-ray drive, bluetooth dongle, 4GB of ram, a Quad-core Q9450 and a nice case.

not that it matters now but you've got a hot vote from me! Once you go Mac you never go back! So glad I no longer have to put up with Window's any more- Now I don't have to worry about spyware, adware, viruses, trojans and all the **** that comes with Windows. I just get things done and in style!

Joe its *ssholes like those that voted your deal cold that stop me from making the effort to post anything on HUKD.

Using Apple is a personal preference, there wiill always be those that buy elsewhere and defend their decision, because they cannot possibly have spent their money unwisely. However to rate something cold because it is not what you personally use or have bought is pathetic and smacks of brand jealously.

To use the analogy of Ford and Mercedes cars - the Ford Focus will get you there (probably?) but the Mercedes will always get you there in style!

Joe, they just dont get it and never will - their loss!

But very very pricey.
