Hot off the heals of the deal i posted last week about the Kindle at Tesco, I now have an even better deal on the New Amazon KINDLE 6" WiFi E-reader, which can be had for an amazing £54 - Confirmed and test by me before posting today:-)

1) Goto the argos website and search for the kindle or use below address:

2) Add to Basket and Reserve for Store pickup.

3) Goto this thread at print of the £10 of a £40 spend Voucher:

4) Go armed with Voucher and get your Kindle from Argos, they will deduct the Voucher from the Kindle price (£69 - £10 using voucher above)

5) Argos are currently doing a £5 Gift Card if you spend £50, so you also get a £5 Voucher to spend in Argos at your leisure.

There you have it, Kindle for £54 (with all discounts applied)

EDIT 02/10/12 - The £5 Voucher Back deal from Argos has expired. The student £10 of a £40 deal is still active till the 9th October 2012, but apparently there us a Double Up Event from Argos next week, which makes this deal even better, so if you want to try your luck on Monday/Tuesday next week, then potentially you can get the New Kindle WiFi 6" for £59 (using the student voucher) + a free £10 Gift Voucher from Argos in return.

I work for Argos, theres an instore bulletin about the vouchers, you need a student card.
I managed to get this no problem at Teesside Park, Stockton-On-Tees Argos Extra this afternoon. I took the print out and took a friend who had a NUS card but they didn't ask to see the ID. They said they hadn't seen this discount before but I just explained I found it on their website (white lie ;)) and they checked with a colleague and tried to read the small print but it was tiny. They then accepted it with a smile :D
Thanks for the help and the OP this made the Kindle a really good prince!
This is students only. As stated in the internal memo you go to collect your kindle and present this voucher, you must have a ucas card, or the official email with the correct email address. So unless someone can upload the official email, or has a ucas card, this deal wont work.
My argument was that if I wasnt a student,i wouldnt have been sent the email and also that it doesnt say you need proof in the email terms and conditions,,so i guess you could argue the fact

Bought today printed off the voucher and got the discount.

The only think that worries me with the paperwhite is dreaded glare. There is no glare whatsoever with the kindle, its the only reason I like it. I hate monitor, tablet and smartphone glare with a passion. Years of scrolling on a pc probably ;-) plus my right eye is now sensitive to it and sometimes swells up lol. Looking at the link, that women's face seems to be lit up with the paperwhite. Wish they'd bang out an a4 size one in the UK, that's what I want, great for books and mags, most of my reading will be done in a home or hotel, I don't get reading outside, copy what is in the book and have a life outside :-) read inside when bored :-)

I am looking also for the perfect reader. If you don't like glare and light you should know that the light can be adjusted and also turned off, when off, the paperwhite is not white anymore, is grey like the old kindles. If the light is not an essential for you (I also tend to think like you) you might consider Sony PRS T2- you get wikipedia and google search embed, evernote and facebook integration, a stylus to take notes and highlight, page turns buttons, android and the best pdf capabilities and available in 3 colours. Amazon's kindles are ok, but are not the best.

Thanks Ashan, really appreciate the info ;-)

All those people saying about the paperwhite, there are arguably better alternatives coming to the UK.

For sale in the UK from Monday. RRP is £99; it has a better resolution than the Kindle Paperwhite and is not tied down to Amazons store and can read most open book formats as well as having its own book store. Only downside is due to the resolution it has a lower battery life than the Kindle - only 1 month when using the lights.

Kobo's book store completely and utterly sucks. I bought one instead of a Kindle after thoroughly researching it, and I highly regret it! It takes me forever to buy books because you have to buy one at a time, and they don't automatically download (perhaps this new one does that though).
Wouldn't accept in Newport IOW store. Said he was a scam and would only accept if I had the original letter...........:(
According to Argos in Stockport - this offer is for Students only. I was refused when tried to purchase Kindle with this voucher code
Don't tell Argos but as it was from UCAS it presumably only went to Freshers.
I see that Argos letter says, "The offer can also be accepted if the customer has the printed the UCAS email with the below email address (EMAIL...".
I just managed to use the voucher in two different stores in London. The first I went to refused it and said the offer was withdrawn. The next two accepted it *but* I do have an NUS student card to show I'm a student. I'm just not a fresher hence not getting the proper email. The third Argos I went to did comment about how it had been distributed online but accepted it because of my ID.
I cant print the voucher?
I just tried to use this in a store in London, accepted with no questions asked!
Just got this in the Derry Cresent Link store, no questions asked, just needed the voucher to balance their till. And it's not possible to use the £5 voucher against this. Hot!
Thanks - worked like a dream in my local half an hour ago - guess it just depends how switched on the staff are.
hello, is anyone so nice and please please please forward me this argos email?

thanks you
I can no longer print out the voucher :(
Just used this voucher in the yeovil store in somerset. No problem at all £10 off and £5 gift card no questions asked they just took the code and charged the £59 and gave us our Gift card. Great deal, that's one Christmas present sorted!!! Thanks
Just used the voucher in Milton Keynes with no problems.
Voted hot on this. I was sort of subtle when I told the missus about it and how good a present it would be for Christmas.

Printed off the email that someone posted on here and gave it to the wife. She was able to use it in the fareham titchfield store without a problem.

Really good price for a kindle, thanks

I tried this today, ordered the kindle, printed the voucher and went ready for battle!

The queue was empty so felt good, approached till and noticed that I was dealing with a manager. I explained that I had an reservation and a voucher sent to me from my fictional son in uni and she said as long as it is in the student catalougue, that's fine.

My heart sank, "Catalouge?", "what catalouge?"..inside I was screaming as she walked off to get it. She duly came back moments later with a catalogue, queue had formed behind me now. The pressure was building inside, fight of flight?, shall I run now or see it through. I decided to see it through, she started to flick through the pages and I was scanning every item on every page like looking for that image or the word kindle and to my delight half way through I noticed the Kindle, inside I screamed out "THERE IT IS YOU BLIND BAT!" on the exterior, I calmly pointed out to her the item.

Pulling her specs down onto the bridge of her nose, she looked, absorbed the information then looked up at me and said "it was the wrong one". I looked at it but it was the same flippin kindle, but this one was listed at £89. I explained that my reservation was for a £69 kindle, she told me the £69 version is the new version and that the one in the catalouge was for the older version. Again inside I was shouting out "THEY ARE THE SAME CHUFFIN KINDLES!!!", my polite said "Oh, well why would an old version cost more, doesn't make much sense"

Why does an older version cost more?
Are they ripping students off with two price structures?
Is this woman mad?

She said to me "Well buy the new one, and you'll save £20", I said, *cough* my Son wanted the £69 version for £59, not an £89 version for £79, or to pay the going rate of £69"

I can't remember if I walked up giving the 2 finger salute or I thought it, but as nobody chased me out the store, I guess I must have thought it.

I bought one in the Gloucester store with no problems. Heat added, great find
This all depends on the luck of the draw with the store and the person serving. I tried on Friday and was refused - went to a different store today and was served by a team leader with no issues or questions asked.

Used this to get the Touch for £99, happy days :-)

The correct answer here would be to ask her to point out the part of the T&Cs which requires it to only be used on items in the catalogue. Followed, if necessary, with "I'm fully aware that this coupon it valid for this item. If you need to call someone to verify that, feel free. I'll wait"

Never worry about holding up the queue - that's their concern, not yours.
Used it today no problems, I didn't even mention that it was a student code, I just said I had a printed voucher with a code. Member of staff inputted it and it was all sorted, Just gutted I didn't do it sooner to get the £5 voucher for £50 spend!
Worked for me, they even asked the manager if the printout I gave them was OK :D
anyone can upload the official email?

I used this voucher today at the Glasgow Fort store, manager approved it at a glance, no hassles. Cheers OP!
Success, I retried in another store and succeeded..yay, didn't get a £5 voucher though, ended yesterday apparently.
Is the £5 voucher definitely finished?
Is the £5 voucher definitely finished?

It is finished, but if rumour is true, then a £10 voucher is available for a £50 spend from next week.
The Student £10 off a £40 spend ends on Tuesday, so if all the stars line up, you could be talking £59 Kindle with £10 Voucher Back.

I will amend the OP if this gets confirmed over the next few days... ;)
