NEW Amazon Kindle 6" E-Reader with WiFi ONLY £59.00 (using printable voucher) + £10 Voucher back (Next Week)!!!! @ ARGOS Reserve & Collect

SharpharpSharpharp

Hot off the heals of the deal i posted last week about the Kindle at Tesco, I now have an even better deal on the New Amazon KINDLE 6" WiFi E-reader, which can be had for an amazing £54 - Confirmed and test by me before posting today:-)

1) Goto the argos website and search for the kindle or use below address:
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5011317/Trail/searchtext%3EKINDLE.htm

2) Add to Basket and Reserve for Store pickup.

3) Goto this thread at print of the £10 of a £40 spend Voucher:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/vouchers/10-off-a-40-spend-using-promotion-voucher-code-argos-store-1304518

4) Go armed with Voucher and get your Kindle from Argos, they will deduct the Voucher from the Kindle price (£69 - £10 using voucher above)

5) Argos are currently doing a £5 Gift Card if you spend £50, so you also get a £5 Voucher to spend in Argos at your leisure.

There you have it, Kindle for £54 (with all discounts applied)

EDIT 02/10/12 - The £5 Voucher Back deal from Argos has expired. The student £10 of a £40 deal is still active till the 9th October 2012, but apparently there us a Double Up Event from Argos next week, which makes this deal even better, so if you want to try your luck on Monday/Tuesday next week, then potentially you can get the New Kindle WiFi 6" for £59 (using the student voucher) + a free £10 Gift Voucher from Argos in return.
For double up info see here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/double-up-event-10-voucher-for-every-50-spent-20-voucher-for-every-100-spent-argos-1325738?page=2#post15631797

OK so Americans get it for £46.. which is about the same here including VAT, well a bit cheaper

The only think that worries me with the paperwhite is dreaded glare. There is no glare whatsoever with the kindle, its the only reason I like it. I hate monitor, tablet and smartphone glare with a passion. Years of scrolling on a pc probably ;-) plus my right eye is now sensitive to it and sometimes swells up lol. Looking at the link, that women's face seems to be lit up with the paperwhite. Wish they'd bang out an a4 size one in the UK, that's what I want, great for books and mags, most of my reading will be done in a home or hotel, I don't get reading outside, copy what is in the book and have a life outside :-) read inside when bored :-)

Re: the paperwhite ($119) if bought/shipped to a US address, will it still work in the UK (i.e. will it connect to the UK amazon store?). Are there any advantages to waiting for it to be released locally?

Voted hot for this one though, as for a Kindle that's a HOT price (bought mine for well over that amount!).

There is a newer model which is called the Kindle Paperwhite but it hasn't been released here yet.

and will be released 6 months or 1 year, what's your point?

All those people saying about the paperwhite, there are arguably better alternatives coming to the UK.

For sale in the UK from Monday. RRP is £99; it has a better resolution than the Kindle Paperwhite and is not tied down to Amazons store and can read most open book formats as well as having its own book store. Only downside is due to the resolution it has a lower battery life than the Kindle - only 1 month when using the lights.

Also the Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight is coming to the UK mid October.
    http://www.barnesandnoble.com/p/nook-simple-touch-with-glowlight-barnes-noble/1108046469

The Nook is not far behind the Kindle in the US in terms of sales, and the Glowlight is being priced very aggressively in the UK for its introduction. Has the backing of the US's biggest bookstore.

Really only now choose Kindle if you like the Amazon shop, or you have already bought tons of books on it and are now tied to Amazon. As there are really a lot better alternatives hardware wise and price wise now.

edit: Also the Paperwhite is supposedly coming to the UK, but not until around Easter time, although given B&N's addition to the UK market I wouldn't be surprised to see Amazon bring it to the UK a lot sooner.

I am looking also for the perfect reader. If you don't like glare and light you should know that the light can be adjusted and also turned off, when off, the paperwhite is not white anymore, is grey like the old kindles. If the light is not an essential for you (I also tend to think like you) you might consider Sony PRS T2- you get wikipedia and google search embed, evernote and facebook integration, a stylus to take notes and highlight, page turns buttons, android and the best pdf capabilities and available in 3 colours. Amazon's kindles are ok, but are not the best.

kobo has almost same resolution, no significat difference there
the nook is fragile, a slight press on the screen will make the light uneven (patchs, holes, spots)
I would choose between Sony t2 and Kobo, Sony has more to offer than kobo even if it's not lit or higher resolution, but let's wait for the reviews now.

I would advise people to wait for the Paperwhite, even though it's not coming to UK soon. I'm on a Kindle 3 and it has the same screen quality as this kindle even though it's two generations behind. The Kindle Paperwhite has an improved screen and I would advise/suggest that you don't bother uprgrading for the cosmetic change iterations and only upgrading when the screen is improved. That's just my opinion. If it's a cheap Kindle you want though, this is great, as the Paperwhite would not be cheap!

what are you saying? it's the same pearl eink screen only with led which makes it white, if you turn off the light is the same colour.

waiting for something that the amazon didn't even bother to say an estimated time for release in Europe? Amazon is treating Europe custumers like second class, Kindle fire ater almost 2 years? They are ridiculous

I've gone to the link but the argos site just shows £10 off if you spend £100 or £5 off if you spend £50.
No sign of the £10 off for £40 spend.
Anyone else having trouble finding it? if i'm just being blind?! please point it out to me as i'm desperate for this voucher to be able to get the Kindle for a present for my mum.

Does Amazon make cases for these? I have a Kindle keyboard with a case, would like a smaller model but with a case, preferably with a light.

Been to my local Argos today (Consett) took copy of email voucher and after short discussion with manager was able to buy kindle and use voucher,,they have had a memo today telling them not to accept voucher without proof that you are a student,,i argued that i wouldnt have email if i wasnt one..Im not,,ha ha but dont think manger could be bothered with the hastle
    nascent
This is students only. As stated in the internal memo

If you go to collect your kindle and present this voucher, you must have a ucas card, or the official email with the correct email address.
So unless someone can upload the official email, or has a ucas card, this deal wont work.
