    Product Description
Thanks to the new SensorBaglessTM technology, the GS-50 achieves permanent and consistent cleaning results. We have optimised all of the components which determine the performance of a bagless vacuum cleaner, from the material right through cleaning functions.
The clever sensor measures the airflow through the machine, when it drops below optimum, the light flashes to indicate that the filter needs cleaning therefore maintaining performance. The filter can be cleaned within seconds by an easy RotationCleanTM system.

High performance HEPA rated filter materials ensure maximum cleaning results. This is thanks to a large active filtration surface tech Gore material which stops dust particles on the filter surface for easy of cleaning. Lifetime washable filters mean no replacement.

The aerodynamic design allows for better airflow throughout the machine, therefore enabling better cleaning results and performance. The large 3 litre usable fully sealed dust container is incredibly easy to maintain. Lift the container out of the vacuum, for extra hygiene sealed and then remove the lid and empty. The dust container can be rinsed under running water.

I've just bought one of the new advertised ones and its model number is BGS5SILGB which is £200 at amazon. I paid around £170 at Go electrical. I think the linked model is last year's model.

Not sure, GS-50 range has lots of models. The TV advert only mentions GS-50, which fits this one.
    No difference in design either.

This deal is getting even better, I found a Turbo Brush for it as well for just £12.99:

I was just being pedantic. The new GS-50 range http://www.bosch.co.uk/en/uk/newsroom_2/news_2/news-detail-page_26688.php was released this year but the date and comments on the linked model are from last year. From a design perspective the new BGS5SILGB has a 1200W motor as opposed to 2400W last year which is why they claim the new range is quieter.
Nonetheless £120 is a good deal for any Bosch bagless.

Again, not sure, this one also has a 2200W motor:
    http://www.bosch-home.co.uk/store/product/Cylindervacuumcleanerbagless/BGS5PETGB

They keep the model numbers and tech data in a very confusing state, as most manufacturers these days.

If you go to http://www.bosch-home.co.uk/tiger, which is the link in the tv advert, you are given a choice of 3 different GS-50 (press on View Collection). One of them has a 2200w motor.

So no, the 2200W is not a sign of a last year model.

Just noticed you mentioned something about 2400W. There are no models in the GS-50 range with 2400w motors, just 2200W.

The 2012 date listed for the linked model is a very good sign of it being last years model - and so is the fact it's being sold off cheap.
This years GS50 models are all model number BGS5 followed by some letters.

The PET model has a 2200W motor unlike the BGS5SILGB I bought but is not being listed as quiet and so I do not recommend using it near a tiger (or any of last years models for that matter).

BGS52200GB is the code for the one I listed in this deal. So it follows the pattern you just mentioned :)

The PET model is the most powerful and most expensive. And has the same 2200W motor as the BGS52200GB in this deal.
In my view, this is the motor you want, if their claims were true that the 1200W motor is just as powerful they would not put the 2200W motor in the PET motor to cope with hair.

I do not want to try vacuuming near a tiger, and I am more interested in getting the most powerful cleaner, not the quietest.
So in my opinion this deal is insanely good, you get the best motor for an excellent price. In fact, compared to the PET is almost half the price. And I already put the link for a Turbo Brush. There is the opportunity for a good deal here in my opinion.

I studied long and hard the list of tech specs and description, and there is no difference in the weight, dimensions and size, color, inscriptions etc. If this is the last years model but uses the same motor and has the same design, weight, dimensions, what is different ? Nothing. I am very happy with it.

Just order it, you will regret if you do not, amazon do not charge your card until they dispatch it, so you risk nothing.
Unless your vacuuming needs are too urgent.

Cheers! Always helps when someone does the research and just gives you the findings. :)

Mine's been delivered yesterday. It is indeed the same as the ones sold for £200. I saved £80. Good deal, very quiet and very powerful.

I am playing with the idea of buying, I put a link to a similar one above, they are also sold on ebay.
However, you might find you don't need it, as the vacuum cleaner is very efficient without it.

So to confirm, is this DEFINATELY the one advertised on TV at the moment? The 'silent' one?
    Thanks

No, that one is one of the 4 vacuums of the GS-50 range, and is one of the cheapest of the 4, as it uses the lower powered motor shared with the Eco version.
The one in this deal is the Power version, it is more powerful.

However, if you read my comments and Amazon reviews, it is incredibly silent, everybody basically talks about how silent it is.
So not sure why you want the exact same one in the advert, are you planning on vacuum near any tigers? Or would you be more concerned with getting the most effective cleaning with a more powerful suction while saving £80?
