It does make a difference. It is far more noticeable than on a TV as you are sat closer to it. There is no excuse for 17" laptop to not have a high resolution panel, you might as well buy a 15" with the same resolution and save the weight.

well to be honest, i miss the days when u can a laptop with 16:10 screens and not the extra wide 16:9 screens its a lot more practical, as most people will browse and use word for a laptop, i prefer 15.4" not the usual 15.6"

good price - hot

v good config + warranty for a decent price.
#9
How do you get it for £767 as I can only get it for £787.60 or does that price not include shipping?
#10
Great spec, good price, well worth it with the four year deal. My problem is that i get bored after a year with my laptop .... !

I can't get the link to work. I've tried it 3 times. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.

Change support to 4 year - it adds £49 to the original price.

As for the price, I've noticed that any system I configure drops by £20 when I put it in my basket.

Before I put it in my basket, the headline price is £1,083, but when in my basket, it's £1,063. I can't explain it.

Yup agreed, my dell d810 with it's 15.4" 1920x1200 res and underpowered x300 64mb are still a decent combo with a 2.13 pentium m compared to what they sell these days. Nothing seems to beat my current set up(I don't mean spec wise). Maybe anything less than 1920x1080 is not really for me when I'm trying to work at a pc regardless of the size of the screen, I seem to need the real estate.

Cheaper And Prob Same Spec???
#15

You can't compare these two laptops. The dell has a way better cpu and gpu and os and warranty and screen etc etc. :p
#16

The only thing this laptop has in common with the Dell is that it is 17". Rather similar to saying a Lada is the same as a Mercedes because they both have 4 wheels.

No No No No No No No No No and No.

You may have to wait - I ordered similar spec about a week ago and delivery won't be til 22nd February - apparently they can't get the i7 processors.

Don't forget the problems studio laptops have with audio (and potentially video) google "dell studio dpc latency" and the dell forum link will show you the state of play. Dell are trying to ignore the issue, but when I asked if it also affects core i7 models they suggested it did. Doesn't look like they are going to fix it either, some not happy folks out there, luckily I managed to return mine, but be warned.

I've done the googling, but I am still none the wiser. What does it mean in layman's terms.
