We're with Lovefilm but getting annoyed by the number of corrupt discs we've been getting - they seem to be doing nothing to fix it. Annoyingly the issues occur midway or even near the end of the movie!!

If they don't sort it out I'll ditch them and give these guys a try.

+1 not great when your all settled down and in the middle of a movie. we had loads.

Signed up yesterday, and they already dispatched 3 discs today. ( 2 blu-ray and 1 dvd). Hope it wont get delayed in the postal strike.
#4
wouldnt surprise me if theyre all german with english subtitles
#5
... soon get taken over by Lovefilm like all the rest!
#6
I have been with Lovefilm for 3 years and i haven't had any probs, but i may as well sign up for this as there will be postal strikes over the coming weeks and have got more chance of getting dvds if i am with 2 services.

Lidl Movies is a rebadged Outnow Entertainment and tbh they aren't as good as LoveFilm especially for TV titles
#8
I gave them a try, they don't have that many blu ray films :-(

Might give them a try :)
#11
I would sign up, but with the postal strike a real possibility, you could end up unable to get the DVDs back to them by the end of the thirty days and therefore stuck paying the monthly fee.
#12
Well, they immediately charged me the full amount. Great. (Yes, this is using the free trial signup :P). Also, there's a lot of movies missing from the list.
#13
Won't let me sign up, as I have previously been a member of MYMOVIESTREAM

Same thing has been happening to me as well.
And the priority settings are pointless, they send them out in what ever order they want to.

I have just canceled my account without any being sent. they don't have that much there anyway.

How did you know, it asked for payment details from me too....but I presume that they will only charge once the free month is up.

Cinemaparadiso.co.uk is the best online DVD rental service. If you don't use up your monthly quota of DVDs it spills over into next month.

Thats me out then, I'd have liked to go through the 360 back catalogue and pick a few that I liked.

I got fed up of DVD rental places after I spent six months with lovefilm and never got a priority 1 film. And they weren't exactly new releases, just older films that Blockbuster didn't stock any more.

When I got to the end it asked me for my security password then informed me that it was charging me the full £13.xx

Yep same here, so much for the free trial

I've been with Lovefilm for a few years now and had very few problems.

However, my account is currently in holiday mode until this postal strike is sorted out as the interval between receiving disks made it not worth the subscription.

You pay for lovefilm? 3 months codes work endlessly, don't they?

I went for a full year for free once, still watching the ones I copied now!
#27
well if we all got them for free dude1971. then there would be no service at all. had a few probs with love film. but nothing they didn't rectify as quickly as they could. will be staying with them. but thanks for the post DLM...

Theres only so many times the email/postcode trick/credit card swap can work. I managed just over 4 years ! Cant be arsed now as there are so few good films being released and all the good TV stuff I record on my Freesat HD PVR

They are hotter on free trials now and besides, they will go bust if everyone did that.

I'm happy with lovefilm, got 6 months free trials first, but paid ever since. Its bad enough your stealing the films by copying them, don't rip lovefilm off too.. :whistling:

not anymore they dont. They send out legal letters now. I got one so stopped immediately.

Been getting free love film/tesco for over 5 years now, they even send me free codes through the post :-D

Joined on Monday 12th on the free month trial, discs arrived on Tuesday 13th.

Emailed them at 10.42 to find out why they took a payment for a trial they emailed back at 11.00 the same day to say something along the lines of it being a check to verify the card and the funds going back in...

So far, So Good

In my experience, all the DVD rental companies do a "validation" thingy on your card to make sure its not dodgy. I imagine they'd quickly go bust if they sent DVDs and Blurays out to all and sundry without some sort of basic financial/ID check!

Last time I joined Lovefilm they validated my card for 3 months worth, which was a bit rich, but I did get it back.

Signed up for Lidl Movies last Weds and they checked for a tenner, but it was back in my account later the same day, so no probs there. Site seems nice and unfussy and I've already had 4 discs, including a new release, so looking good so far :-)

Signed up... and then cancelled inside of 10 minutes...

Out of my 10 top-priority films/series on Tesco/Lovefilm, more than half are not listed at LIDL, e.g. Dollhouse, the latest Battlestar Galactica (or the series before, for that matter), The Lost Room...etc

They may have a catalogue of 65000 titles, but they are necessarily the ones we want to watch.

+1 I've been with them all and Cinema Paradiso are by far the best, cheaper too:thumbsup:
#36
Still going well for me

6 DVDs so far - although Watchmen could have done with being 2 hours shorter!

Will give it another week, but will probably cancel lovefilm and stick with these Lidl movies people on evidence so far - cos its about £2 cheaper!

Well spotted DLM!
#37
Not impressed - joined nearly 2 weeks ago and still waiting for 1st disc so just cancelled. Lovefilm tons better!
#38
Absolutley rubbish, shocking excuse for an online rental company. Stick with Lovefilm which at times can stall with the titles but at least the customer service is good. I got all older titles with Lidl, and when sending back took almost a week to update! When 5 (yes 5) didnt turn up at the Lidl depot I was made to fill in lost in post reports which is fine and expected. But to be continually told that I hadnt sent these titles or forms back was too much. Swift cancellation later and bye bye to a useless, second rate, shabby service. AVOID

I have cancelled after and unsuccesful months trial but have not responded to any e mail, does anyone know who i can contact either by phone or e mail
