This seems a great price. It was getting hot yesterday as a refurb unit from Dixons @ £476.97... however this isn't a refurb, it's new, and is CHEAPER!!! Seemed a bargain to me. Only 2 left so act fast!

I'm not a pro at entering these deals. Sorry for any mistakes. I just thought it was a deal to share!

Ok the hdd could be bigger, but that's easy to upgrade in the future. But has an i3 chip and multitouch touchscreen and dedicated 512mb graphics card for just over £400!

Ultra Mobile? 2 hour battery life... Uhm

I'm sure I got around three hours out of mine. This is a great laptop.

Ok battery isn't great against a netbook, but isn;t too bad for a normal laptop. PCPro got 3h20m out of it, not 2hrs. It also has the full fat i3 so is plenty fast enough and could handle a lot more than a netbook. PCPro did a good review and gave it 4 out of 5 for value when it was over £600.

Ok so battery is crap BUT why would you want a crap battery along with a small screen. Avoid.

New tech is expencive when its new...this aint new tech and 2hrs battery life is a joke! You really cant call this ultra mobile with 2hrs battery. Cold from me.
#7
But that one doesn't have a touch screen, only has 2Gb of ram plus only has on-board graphics which are always rubbish!!

Anyway, I prefer the smaller screen so can use on the train to work to watch films etc. Each to their own I guess!

Glad you found it useful, that's why I posted. Hope you enjoy it!!

Still seems good value to me, but it does seem strange to build a ultra portable with such poor battery life compared to other ultra portable laptops. On the plus side it is pretty powerful and comes with a nice spec for the price.
#11
battery life should be way more than 2 hours , it has a 6 cell battery, My pentium dualcore laptop last 4 hours on a 6 cell battery...
#12
check amazon, one person quotes 4-6 with wifi another 2 1/2 hours though that person believed it was because of the normal junk on the laptop, so would be interesting if the performance was in the 4-6 with no extras installed by HP.
#13
battery is down point, otherwise good deal
#14
Despite the battery issue, why isn't this hotter? Specially considering its a touch screen...

stick an apple on it then it will be above 1000 ;)

Good spec for the price but not exactly "Ultra Mobile" as it is described by PCW!

Weight 2.1 kg

Shame about the 2-hour battery, somewhat spoils it.

I would happily sacrifice a little battery life and go with the HP over that one. At least this has a dedicated GPU!
#19
Remember this has a dedicated gfx which has to support the multi-****-touch feature

The number of cells in a battery doesn't tell you it's capacity, this is rated in Kwh.

The numbers of cells just tells you how it's constructed.

Hope this is new as specified in the website!
#24
Couldn't you underclock the CPU/GPU to squeeze a bit more life out of the battery, or just buy a bigger battery?
#25
woohoo mine just arrived! initial look is fab!

have now had a play, i was worried about the size but its actually perfect, the touch screen is brilliant very responsive even to one finger and i love the fingerprint scan which can be set up to remember all your passwords to login to things via a scan instead of typing! Looks gourgous too :)

Actually havent got a bad thing to say about it very happy for the price paid! :)

Even mine had all the protective stickers...but still it had the pre-owned tag outside the box. But the one pager (receipt ?!) inside states the condition as 'New'. I can confirm that this is a brand new unit.

I'd check out the HP warrentee site (http://www11.itrc.hp.com/service/ewarranty/warrantyResults.do) before you say that. Mine was all sealed as it was reconditioned by HP in the factory so will look new. However, you have no manufacturer support if it's not new! Also there is doubt over the PCWorld 12Month warranty as they only offer 12 months to new products and 3 months to refurb units!

If you check your serial number if the end date of the warranty is not 12months after the start date (which is the date it leaves the factory) it means it has already been registered. Mine was registered in Aug last year so phone support ran out in feb and warranty runs out in aug this year!

Just a warning. Hope you got lucky!

I called Hp and they said the warranty started when the laptop was sent of to company not when brought, and that the years warranty is with company purchased from, i then called again and got told to email my receipt and they may be able to extend it.

Good work! Do you have any email address?
Also, are you referring to the one page (A4 size) as the receipt or the email on order confirmation from PCWorld outlet?
#35
I've scanned in the receipt that came in the package. I wrote the serial number on it as they needed that. Lets see what HP say!!

If we can get a fully 12month warranty from HP then it's much better, still not happy with CurrysPCWorld tho!

[email protected] i scanned the a4 sheet but blanked out the ebay spill about returns and then just wrote my serial # and product # in the email

thanks guys...will try that!

got an email back from hp saying that there is no extended warranty on the laptop so they cant do anything about it and it is pcworlds responsibility to provide the years warranty not them as it wasnt purchased direct from HP!
