im looking at getting this with the 5off code too. It all looks great but i was hoping the camera function would be better...turns out its about 0.7 megapixels...would have been so good if it was the same as the iphone 4
#2
it takes decent 720p video according to a review off yt, better than 3gs video by far
#3
at the end of the day, the cameras just a fancy addon for me, im getting one because its as powerful in EVERY way as an iPad, slightly less ram than an iphone 4 from the looks of it. it just looks too good a bit of kit to miss out on...

£216.97 here

Good upgrade on this line, got a 64GB 3rd Gen, might upgrade to the 4th Gen later this year.
#6
Whizzkid that's the 3rd Gen.
#7
@ Whizzkid, thats the OLD iPod Touch mate :(

Ooops, my bad

I hate the fact the only thing this basically lacks over a iphone, is the cellular part. and its £350 cheaper - the part itself will cost less than £20 no doubt. Still, give it a hot vote!

Its missing quite alot over an iphone 4 as the OP has tried to explain. This is almost what people were crying out for but not quite... just like every Apple product, yet all of us, myself included still buy everything with a bloomin Apple logo on it.
#11
imo the best thing apple make is the imac for the money. I do with with it though...its not just for 'fun' as such. The own the first ipod touch 8gb and its still going solid. I do think you get something extra for the money.

Whats the apple store trade in deal? Haven't heard about that before.

Heat added. Thank you!

I just cancelled the order I put in on the Apple store yesterday, and saved £12.45 :)

nice find op
#15
The Touch 4G ISN'T an iPhone without the phone part. The screen is lower quality, the cameras are lower quality, it doesn't have GPS, it doesn't have a compass, it doesn't have camera flash.
#16
The new touch and the iphone both have 960x640 screens....thats the best upgrade i think. the screen on the iphone is amazing

Ironically, the best bang for buck, the imac, has the worst quality control process ive ever seen. Onto my 5th replacement so far, and its going back too. How hard is it to fit a **** computer with a working PSU?!?!?!

Mind you, the 13" MBP are brilliant for the price too.

Good find!
I've upgraded to an iPhone 4 from my iPod Touch 2G. This looks like a great package but has many features cut-down on the iPhone 4 including the stills camera. All in all it an excellent package - I used my iPod Touch mainly as a web browser and email client, but with added camera of any quality this is a real deal and the Retina screen is fantastic.
A attractive package of technologies at a great price!

Bad luck! I bought an Apple refurb 17" MacBook Pro and its been fantastic for the last three years - only problem is the battery, which a couple of weeks ago started to fail and then started 'swelling', apparently it was the 'exploding' type they recalled a couple of years ago! Other than that it has been A1 though I'm sure had mine exploded I would now have a very much revised opinion.
I've owned Apple Macs for many years and they keep getting better and better not just faster!

Oh yeah, as for the post, good price, but it isnt a replacement for an iphone.

Usually with apple, adding 3G to a device adds an extra £100 to the device, which would make it £336. THEN you need to add in all the extras like GPS etc.

Theres also a reason that apple will NEVER add a 3G option to the iPod touch, as everyone would just buy them over the iPhone and just use voip services to make calls.

There are however modded cases available for the 3rd gen ipod touch that allow it to function as a phone, without the need of a headset for voice comms.

Genius! Its like they have made a smaller...alternative iPad!!!!!

+ 3% quidco and topcashback

236... Might as well buy an iPad for 400 quid more...

I want one!
ive got an iphone 4 but still feel the urge, apple have me pwned!
#25
When does this voucher expire?
#26
Good deal, I only bought a 3g ipod touch a while ago though, so I can't justify buying this even though it does look great...heat anyway.
#27
i want an engraving on my ipod touch so no thanks from me.

I personally think the iMac's are probably the most over-priced of the Apple stuff, but as long as you like it that's all that matters.

This and the iphone 4 have the same retina displays btw. I can pretty much say, that all the parts this is missing, are literally penny's over the iphone 4. There's a price break down of the iphone 4 BTW on the internet - someone dissembled one - be able to work out how much it costs that way. I'll have a look!

The iphone 4 parts come too $190 - You get my drift on this ipod touch at almost twice that.

I'll also like to add, its the same CPU, and has the same amount of RAM - so it will probably be on par if not faster than the iphone 4.

Only thing it lacks is the cellular features, GPS and compass. Difference in production costs will be minimal

If you take in an old iPod for recycling then you get 10% off the price of a new iPod. Probably not worth it if it's working as you will most likely be able to sell it for more than the discount, but if you've got a broken one then it could be worth a go (although even faulty iPod Touches can sell on eBay for £50+ so it may be worth putting it on there as a gamble?)

Where can I buy the 'modded ipod touch case' mentioned earlier?
#32
i've been looking at the specs for this new ipod touch - how can it make calls using facetime? i know facetime is via wifi.... and possibly 3g for the voice part.. but this touch does not have a phone so how can this make calls? if over wifi... how? it's not using skype is it?

I don't quite get what you mean but, on the iPod touch it would be via the Facetime app through an available wifi connection.

I've found a couple of Asian tech retailers selling it just now, so seems the real deal.

Is that referring to the iPod being turned to a phone?
If so... http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/05/apple-peel-520-gets-reviewed-turns-your-ipod-touch-into-an-ipho/

Which was quite recent.

Even though it is the same resolution, I'm fairly certain the ipod touch does not have an IPS screen like the iphone 4 (correct me If i'm wrong!)

Looking at a comparison video on Engadget the viewing angle on the ipod touch is very poor compared to the iphone 4.
