Oh I just can't decided. Silver or black iPod classic. It would have been an easy decision had they simply released a white one!

I would go for Black!, I just cant decide what version to go for, or if its worth getting an iphone off ebay!!:?
#8
Not to say it isn't a good deal for the actual item its self, but who in their right mind will pay £94.05 for a 4GB MP3 player? It's ridiculously over-priced. Oh, it has the Apple logo on it, nevermind! *sigh

Nice find though!

ATM this is the best deal.

But Im pretty sure somone will find a deal for about £80-85 within a fortnight.
#10
I was really disapointed with the ipod touch, for me it's the silver classic 80GB, I currently have a 5th gen black 30gb ipod and it shows marks worse than when I had a 4th gen white one.

Ior if its worth getting an iphone off ebay!!:?

I wouldn't if i was you, it will be locked to the american network, and is completely unlockable

Wait a little while, the iPhone is expected to arrive in the UK around Christmas time. They have been unlocked but I bet software updates will close any loopholes so is it worth the hassle?
#13
Yay the nano fatty!

The Touch looks like a winner... although I'll hang onto my PSP =).
#16
Woah, the Nano just got very ugly! The touch just looks like the iphone, with the phone capabilities stripped, and the other... I'm not sure.. lost *somthing*.

Think I'll wait for the iphone :)

I think i'm going to have to get one now....after holding out on one for so long!!

The gf has an ipod....not me though.....:?

All of them Apple products are over priced anyway!
I cnt c whats the big deal abt an ipod when you can get better for a lower price! (btw my k800i does the job quite well, and it was 'free')
same goes for the iphone!
check this out abt the iphone: http://www.mobile-review.com/articles/2007/iphone-name-en.shtml

The first time I seen the Nano yesterday I wasn't to excited but the design has really grew on me especially seeing it in a person's hand.

The shape makes more sense fitting into your pocket than the more rectangle narrow style of the first to gens.

Spoilt for choice. :santa:

The iPhone has the best customer feedback of any smart phone on the market. I can't wait to get rid of the clunky featured Nokia N95 I've been using which is supposedly one of its biggest rivals.

iPods are the best mp3 players on the market and the easiest way to sync and manage your music.

Someone always wants to crash these threads with some talk about their Zune that they can't bring themselves to admit is a piece of ****, Creative (whatever name) they just bought to be different or some Tesco £40 thing that has no features at all and was a waste of money.

The iphone is not a smartphone! The best customer feedback...from who exactly?
maybe from those who have just found out that they paid $200 too much for sth tht has come down in price only 2 months after its 'big release'!
N95 being a rival...pfff! just another 'fashion phone' like the iPhone!
check out the O2 trion, the TYTN 11 or true smartphones from HTC etc...
How come the iPod is the best MP3 player on the market? what makes it the best mp3 player on the market?
Easiest way to sync...what with Itunes? ever tried sth else?

some £40 thing from Tesco without any features....what sort of features do u look for in an MP3 player???

I still think my k800i - which is primarily a mobile phone , does the job as well and better!!

iTunes is awful, but the interface on the iPod blows anything else away, as does the size compared to its competitors - similar thing with the iPhone.

FWIW, I have a K610i (same firmware as K800i) and wouldn't even dream of using it as a proper MP3 player.
#23
As nice as the lineup looks;

iPhone very soon, and my coverflow and video deficient silver nano isn't ready to be replaced for a long time yet, holds a charge like it was new.

Unless a stunning deal turns up, I think I'll wait, even though the phat nanny would still fit in my bags luggage tag holder :giggle:

I doubt that Amazon will screw their prices up this time around, but wouldn't mind another new nano for nearly half RRP :)

itunes is awful...well somebody thought it was damn easy to sync to the ipod!
Agreed, its interface is different from anything out there. But thats the case with most manufacturers. But the main function of the ipod (if we are talking about playing music) is pretty much equal to or inferior to a lot of mp3 players out there. same for the video playbak capabilities.
It pioneered the whole mp3 player craze but its by no means the best or the worst out there!
There's nothing that justifies the price of the ipod compared to other brands!!
Again the iphone has a unique interface. So does the prada. So does the upcoming samsung croix! But the iphone is not a smartphone (neither were the others).
Its a fashion phone. And like the Sirocco, has a unique appeal to it. As in both cases, the exorbitant prices is not justified.
What am saying is, as long as someone is willing to see beyond the fashion statement and the fact that they need to have one because everyone has them, they can find as good alternatives for cheaper.

Unless your looking for a unique music experience, my k800i does the job mighty well. am not sure what u find wrong with the SE.
It meets my expectation. Whether it does it for u is a different story!

Although you zealots can be very amusing, try to remember that this is a deal thread.

New iPods for 5% off rrp using discount code YAWS07

PC World don't have any of the 6th Gen ones until 14-19th September.

I want an iPod touch but it's £200 for an 8 GB device, when the iPod classic 80 GB is for £160!

I'll wait for a discount on the iPod classic to appear on here any buy it. I'm thinking £150 instead of £160 will be nice. Shame it will be black! :(

I think anyone with any level of 'audiophile' about them will agree that the playback quality on the w810i (or similar) really isn't up to scratch. Don't get me wrong, I use mine a lot whilst running and walking the dogs etc, but it's no iPod.
#30
What is it exactly that people find so mesmerising about an ipod.

Is it the fact that you want to be like everyone else on the bus or train.

Get a life there are so many better Mp3 players on the market.

Iriver or the Cowon/iAudio are just two that came to mind, they blow the ipod out of the water for SQ and battery life.

The SQ that an ipod outputs (which I would think is number one priority in an Mp3 player) is utter SH***.

The only way you can make an ipod sound half decent is to use the line-out dock and connect it to a portable headphone amp or Rockbox it.

Anyone who thinks an ipod sounds great straight from the headphone jack is seriously delouded.
#31
Actually, in a proper sound test the iPod was found to have nearly the highest audio fidelity and lowest S/N ratio of any MP3 player out there. A couple were slightly better, but they were even more expensive!
#32
My Dads harder than your dad.

Behave yourselves, everyone will have a different point of view.
This is a thrad based on bargains and prices not technology and which is the best Mp3 Player.

Cowan players are nice, but quite expensive, and the features are often not quite cutting edge (unless you go for one of the really expensive ones). iRiver are ok, still no iPod though.

As a poster mentioned above, iPods (since around the 5th Gen) have very good sound quality. Just google for any Rightmark [SIZE=-1]Audio Analyzer tests and you'll see it comes out quite well. Better than a lot of other players in fact.

The cost is the main thing with iPods. Competitors are often cheaper, but don't offer so much. You may only get 4Gb with one of the Nano's, but you're also paying for 30fps video, a colour screen, much improved battery life, and something smaller than most other players around.

Great deal thanks to the OP.

I love these technology and gadget type deals it always attracts the trolls and makes for an amusing read.

True, but obviously this wide design is due to a larger screen, because this player can do video...the old one couldn't (unless you installed linux on it...but's that's another story :whistling:).

Probably right but the only time I ever use an mp3 player is when am out on public transport. And believe me, use any mp3 player on the ldn underground and they sound pretty much same!
Seen as my k800i was 'free' and the 1gb memory card was quite cheap, I find it suitable for me. As I said, it meets my expectation.
Any other type of mp3 player would cost me a fair bit more.
Thats the point; you are meant to get what you pay for. And for me, the iPod/iPhone, are overpriced!
And the latest sign of this rip off is the drop down in price of the iPhone so quickly after its release!!

I reckon a decent pair of Shure headphones would sort you out.

That's another thing that annoys me. People who buy and iPod and complain about the sound quality when they're using a pants pair of 'phones.
