New John Lewis value range (homeware etc.)

Just received an email from John Lewis advertising their new value range, stating:

"Have you seen our new value range?

Whether you are starting out, or looking for a staple item for your home, we have a great range of quality value pieces that can save you money. "

I'm sure there are cheaper items elsewhere but there were a few £1/£2 items, so worth considering if you're in John Lewis anyway/don't have a pound shop nearby...

Initial reaction to John Lewis value range:
Plates: £2/plate, 28p/each for cheapest in Ikea, same for other crockery, Tub Chairs, £150, were £40 in asda, mug, £1 for 4 in asda, £1 each in JL, too lazy to browse rest, not overly impressed

These are not very good quality. These are really basic and feel really cheap, not the usual JL quality at all. Looked at them the other day, and if you want four place settings, then Sainsbury's do a better box of 4 x plates, side plates, bowls and mugs for £12 in the TU home range.

I wouldn't say they were tat, just not great quality. They are very basic ... which I guess is why they are in the value range.
