I just got off the phone with O2 retentions and I have accepted an offer for two new 12 month contracts.

No new phones (ours are still pretty new due to replacements) but only £100 total cost for both over the next 12 months...

He applied credit to the bill on top of a £15 a month discount so we're getting 400 minutes and 500 texts for just over £4 a month!

Yippeee!

Hope this helps someone else get an awesome deal!

Got the same deal except 600 mins and 500 txts. 12 months free line rental via redemption.

Didn't fancy any of the cashback deals - no redemption on this one! A lovely person at O2 sorted it all out - I don't pay anything 'til the credit on the account is gone - £220 I think

is that thru o2 direct?

i tried to see what they could offer me, but it wasnt very good.

they offered me 75mins anytime any network and 250 sms which worked out to about 4 a month on 18 month contract

any ideas how to get a better deal out of them?

O2 directly - spoke to a chap called Kieran about 20 minutes ago. I just gave a couple of examples of better deals than they were offering - Virgin have 300/300 for £10 a month at the moment and he came back with that offer... Would have liked to push it a little further but almost seemed like he'd made a mistake so grabbed it! 14 days cooling off too if anyone can get somethng better! :)

Decline the first couple of offers - he said something about a 75/250 earlier in the call and I just asked for the PAC again! If they haven't put you on hold a couple of times to 'speak to a manager' then hang up and try someone else...

As an o2 mobile user don't forget to checkout the o2 Broadband service - been with them 7 months now and it's top notch and IF you are lucky enough to be on one of the 1,012 BT Exchanges they have their LLU equipment at it can be just £7.50/month for upto 8Mbps and not much more for even higher speeds (subject of course to how long/good your landline is). More info/views over on the ThinkBroadband website at
http://bbs.adslguide.org.uk/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=o2&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=0
ie you may have saved on your mobile contract with this HUKD and also save with o2 broadband on top.

O2 will always give you £100 credit if you renew without upgrading your phone.

This is my third 12 month contract renewal and this time I got 250mins (up from 100) and 100 texts for £10 p.m, so it will cost me nowt for the first 10 months and won't start paying until month 11, at which time when I get the bill it'll be time to phone up again to seek another deal as the rental is paid a month in advance.

Think it depends on the usage - I got £120 on one phone and £100 on the other... nice deal though... Figured at the equiv. of under £10 a month I could afford it if there's a pretty new phone I need to have in a couple of months!

I've recently had a retentions deal too. I was previously on cashback deals, no net costs, then they gave me 12 months credit 12 x 30, then debited my account with 30 a month, so no cash back to worry about . Travelled quite a bit this year so have used up the 360 after 10 months and will have to pay for the next 2 months.

This year they've offered me 400 any time/network minutes, 1000 texts, plus unlimited download bolt-on
Total cost 5 pounds a month.
And a switch to new contract without having to pay 2 months @ 30 for the balance of the existing contract.

Had to agree to a 24 month contract but taking into account that I've just avoided 2 months full charge line rental it works out at 60 pound over 2 years !
