i bought one for £54.99p good satnav if you are planning on installing tomtom 7

I had to send mine back because the power socket on the device was loose - just waiting for the new one to be delivered now.

Looks good enough though for £50 and you can install tomtom on an SD card too.

edit - are ebuyer deals allowed again now?
#3
Mine arrived yesterday, good unit, much smaller and sleeker than the V1 model I had. Installed tomtom7 without any issues.
#4
also ebuyer have stopped uisng $hitty link as a courier - at least in my area anyway which is a major bonus & the main reason I stopped using them in the first place.

worto.

I have just bought one on these but I'm not very technical how do you put tt7 on it and how easy is it?
#6
I've not tried to do this yet - should be doing it over the weekend but thebest thing to do seems to be to register on this forum then you'll get access to all the downloads and guides you need in the download section.

Do it all on a 2nd SD card and if it all goes pear shaped you can just put your old turbodog card back in. Thats the best thing about it really - no risk :)

edit- lol - forgot the link to the forum http://www.thepctailor.com/

worto.

What can i use on my push bike to tell me distance, time, speed etc without postcode entry.

3 does look slimmer.

It is, I'll take some pictures of it tonight if you need them? I know the picture on the ebuyer website is quite rubbish.

I bought this sat nav last week and it ran okay with Turbodog 6 (definite improvement over the previous version). Registered with thepctailor and got TomTom V7 installed to another sd card in about ten minutes. Plugged it into the navigo and was up and running straight away with no hassles. Definitely a good buy at just over £50 (especially with TomTom software on it)

Look up.....

Slightly off topic. With the V2 Navigo it had a TMC port. Does the V3 have this port? and did anyone get TMC to work. i.e. what com port, baud rate etc?

Or was it simply an optional extra and the TMC chip inside was missing. I don't want to buy a 2.5mm socket TMC antenna only for it not to work.

I have the V1 of this unit, and I run Memory Map to do just what you're after. However, I seem to recall that people were having difficulty running it on the V2 - something to do with the version of Windows CE on it being different to the V1 (it was all in Chinese, for a start :p )

You'll want to do some reading up on whether it's possible on the V3. See if the Navsoon forums are still around, that's where I got all my info from.

Also, Maplin sell bike handlebar mounts for GPS devices - though you'll need to check that the cradle for the V3 uses the standard 4-claw mounting system; the V1 did, I *think* the V2 didn't.

IMO, the V1 was much better than the V2. No idea how the V3 compares though.
#16
Thinking about getting this, is there any difference besides appearance to the v2? Theres only a £3 difference

Apart from appearance it probably would be the same, with newer TurboDog Maps. I would check the forums, to see that it can be easily hacked for better functionality like its V1 and V2 predecessors. Although they offered same functionality, they did differ ever so slightly programming wise.

I think version 1 of navigo looked better than version 2 too.

I think the opposite ....V2 is far better ....it's a lot slimmer for a start and you can play MP3's WHILE running Tomtom at the same time !!

V1 couldn't do this.

Anyone know if V3 can too ?

I always thought V1 and 2 were identical internally. I've read that V2 has a bit of a weak power button and some users have accidently broken them.

Does anyone know how the Navigos speed compares to a Tomtom One V3? The Navigo has a64MB internal memory and a 372 MHZ CPU and the Tomtom V3 has 32MB internal memory and a 266MHZ CPU.

Tomtom runs sweet on the Navigo V1 & V2 .....

...........only thing to note is that if have have more than 2 POI's active ....the map does start to appear a little jerky. :?

I have just used the v3 of this satnav with the new updated version of Turbodog on it. Just been on a road that has only been open a very short time and happy to say that this road is included on the maps. I am impressed. I ahve tried to put TT7 on this but I'm too thick to understand what I have to do properly. Has anyone a dummies guide to this a I really would like to try TT7 sometime.
#21
Hia,

I didn't think much of the route selection in turbodog - sent me some right funny ways.

I got TT7 working on this fine though - blue - pm me your email address and I'll send you the instruuctions I followed.

The main thing is to use a diferent SD card then if you mess anything up it doesn't matter you can always stick the old card back in and turbodog will be there still.

Has anyone tried this with TT8?

I can rar up the files tomorrow but do you have somewhere to upload it to? I have no webspace to speak of.

Cheers ordered one, all I want is a cheap GPS that I won't be too fussed about if it gets broke/lost/robbed, this seems to fit perfect. Being able to play about with the software is just a plus, cheers.

Ebuyer seem to have improved too, I chose free delivery and they just posted it a day later. City Link got it to me overnight too, just a pity that they came 10 mins after I left for work, typical!

Has anyone managed to run Turbodog6 on a V2 unit?

I'm happy with Miomap (which also has text-to-speech so you get directions with road names read out) but am curious to see what Turbo6 is like.
#29
Anyone considering running IGo 8 on this???
#30
3d? are we meant to have flying cars now?

V2 is great, I'm sticking with it. Hot deal though!

The link below is Version 6 of Turbodog software, which is what comes with this unit

I have given it heat, I do like like these Navigo / Ebuyer Sat Navs.
Good price for a fun machine you can experiment with other software.
I have the v1 and v2 running the very latest tomtom v830 maps.
Quite tempted with this but I believe it doesn't take SDHC cards.

would like to know if Miomap / Igo8 are easy to run on this.

both way better than tt7 imo - I'm using igo8 on V1 with 3d landmarks, poi and bar my london map being out of date on some new roads (any help there? 2009 map?) can't ask for more.

the added features just double ...triple the bargain - it's already hot for a straight GPS

I've messed about with the WinCE on the v2 unit.Nothing too damaging, just a couple of failed attempts to install some more games, but I'd like to know if there's a way to do a factory reset on the whole unit and WinCE installation?

Just purchased a V3 and was hoping to install the latest tomtom software.

If anyone could give me a wee bit of advice I would appreciate it:-D

Where to download the software from? and the best step by step guide?

Thanks

A good starting point would be the Help Forum at the link in post #7 of this thread.

My husband bought me a Tom Tom One for Christmas and I don't like it as it seems to take about 10 minutes to pick up a signal and it is about £50 to get the USA map I need for our holiday. I might just order this and see if we can get USA maps online. Great price the Tom Tom was nearer £100.
