I agree that this does seem to be the best base price but both Argos and Play are giving an accessory pack for free (the Argos one appears to have more items in it).

According to ad in the daily press...if you are willing to trade your old DS in, you can have the new DSI half price.....only problem is for the users of the D4 (and similar) cartridges as these dont seem to be compatible.....(probably another reason for the newer console!!!)

I'm hoping Nintendo will do a 'Gamecube' here, and bring the price down before launch. I don't think they revealed a price in their press release for the DSi, the retailers just all went with £149.99, which seem's a bit over-priced in my opinion. It should be £129.99

Agreed, £149.99 seems too close to the RRP of a Wii.

Any idea if this uses WPA encryption? My only bugbear with the DS lite is that it was too much hassle to use online as I had to keep switching my router settings to use it..:x

Sounds like a Router issue rather than a DS issue, as I have never had any problem with mine, and have all sorts of things connected to my wireless router. :whistling:

http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=dsi+wpa ...says yes, but only for new DSi games. Old games still need WEP.

isn't this just a vat difference?
notice how things are just going back to .99 prices? someone is saving the VAT but its not us.

I have the same problem - because our wireless internet is password protected I can't download onto my ds without changing settings, but I can download demos from my wii to my ds without any problem!

"Two cameras: The DSi boasts a 0.3 megapixel digital camera for 640 x 480 pixel pictures, and a camera in the hinge that acts as a webcam. You can even edit pictures on the DSi touch screens!"

There is only one touch screen.

Also, because the GameBoy Advance cartridge slot has been removed accessories such as the Nintendo DS Rumble Pak & the 'grip' used with "Guitar Hero: On Tour" and "Guitar Hero: On Tour Decades" will no longer be supported.

BFN,

It's good news for makers of games that require the slot then as it's an oppurtunity to cash in again, not so good for the consumer :-(

Sorry to ask thicko question. In places like MacDonalds & Wetherspoons they have free Wifi. Could my existing DS Lite access the Web this way or just the new DSi??

Assuming either of those places uses WEP for wifi protection then yes you can use your old DS there. Just remember to wipe your hands first before using your DS, you don't wanna get grease marks from eating the fries on it

Oops, I missed the bit where melmorc said he wanted to browse the web... I just automatically assumed he wanted to play some DS games that have online access. Anyway, yes, Opera is needed for the old DS to browse the internet. The browser itself is slow as sin on the DS which is a shame since on all other platforms (PC, phones etc) it's lightning fast.

I believe this is the best deal I've found for the new DSi, if you want one. That's because you get a free SD card with it if you preorder. Its also cheaper than places like GAME, and has free delivery. I think an SD card is better than an accessories pack.
