I agree if you are trading in a ds lite it seems ok but an xbox 360 or a wii? thats a bad deal but its up to each individual to decide-voted neither hot or cold for me.

The trade in price for you is roughly £60

As It will cost your £75 + Your old DS

So you've lost out only £30 since you bought it

Does that make sense?

good deal. It just depends how picky they are about the 'it must work' comment. Will they take one with a dodgy microphone for example?

Also might be a bit of a risk with so many shops folding. I suppose it's only £20 lost.

I don't know if the shop's busy the aren't going to check every one in great detail.

I personally feel that Nintendo are really just trying to fleecing us.....

GBA turned into the GBA SP....which was a lot better as it was front lit, then they decide to sponge more life by releasing a smaller unit and screen in the GB Micro (smaller is better philosophy).....now onto the DS....

They release the DS, vastly improved screen and ergonomics in the DS Lite...but then what do they go and do, release the DSI (at one time smaller is better....now its the other way round...larger screen!)

Now its features....larger screen (17% larger) = less battery life (first negative upto 20% less) Its loss of its slot 2 (No backward GBA support, or support for the Guitar Hero peripheral)

A 0.3mp camera (The point being what? A gimmick for kids maybe) The SD card slot (DS lite with a Slot 1 homebrew card has the same function) and integral internet (handy but can easily be bought seperately for the DS Lite). Lastly IMPROVED stereo sound, stereo sound from a device this small from its little speakers! well, the only true way to really appreciate stereo sound from a device this small whether it be DS/Lite/DSi is to use headphones.

I feel the DSi is only a considerable option to those that have not already bought a DS lite, I for one won't be trading in mine to upgrade, whilst £75 is a very good trade in price for your old DS lites is the "new" console worth the £75 extra cost over it? What are other peoples views

What is there not to get?! Pay a £20 deposit to secure a reserve on the new DSi, then take in either a DS Lite, Xbox 360 with 20GB HD a Nintendo Wii or a PSP 3000 (New slim and lite) into the store on April 3rd and pay the remaining £55 balance.

My advice if you really want to do it is to take in a DS Lite, trade in value on the other options I feel you are royally getting fleeced...personally unless there are fantastic new games (region locked I hasten to add) to showcase the DSi, I for one right now dont see anything impressive enough for me to want to part with my DS Lite.

Well...reading reviews, apparantly the browser built into the DSi is meant to be really slow, certainly no more functional than the Opera browser you can buy for the DS Lite. Also the DSi doesnt support MP3 only AAC (Ninty didnt obviously want to pay any MP3 licensing fees) so a Slot 1 homebrew card in that sense is more versatile!

As stated, unless (doubtfully) Nintendo release any worthwhile games to utilise the DSi's limited new features (meaning probably a few lame camera related games and region locked!) my moneys sticking firmly in my pocket.

All in £8 2 weeks delivery and loads of how to's on the net and vids on utube

Nothing worse than making a decision from somebody else's opinion without actually looking at it yourself.

I'm not voting either way, but this product IS vastly different to the DSlite, so it all depends on whether you can benefit from the new features:

http://www.nintendo.co.uk/NOE/en_GB/systems/nintendo_dsi_11513.html?&cID=216&lID=dsi&loc=enGB&redirectid=7921616a514d0b188370acc9915a0f75

use your own mind, instead of those who force theirs

I certainly do use my own mind thank you very much! I'm a 40 year old Mum who still loves to play platform games and brain games and feel the advice is not being forced onto me at all.

I have also been looking at sep reviews and I'm very grateful for ANY advice and see it simply as that "advice".

I think they are just trying to make some money, turn a profit, keep people in jobs, normal stuff that companies tend to do really.

That I am quite aware of, just that its less of a new product (as with the 3 different GBAs they put out) If it had a new processor and a line up of new exclusive games for the retail market rather than downloadable titles (very few at the moment) I personally feel its a very weak product improvement personally.

Good trade in price though for the old DS Lite, but personally cant justify the extra spend of £75 for a 0.3mp camera of which is no use to me...maybe good for kids however.
#32
The wife went to Game today to ask about this.
She was told that as long as the DS to trade in was in ok nick with nothing obviously broken they would accept it.
He also said that if we came in and paid the £20 deposit, we could take the old DS away and use it until the new one came in (as long as there was no major deterioation in the condition).

The daughters DS has got an intermittent fault (sometimes goes off) so I think this is a good deal.

So you're intentions then are to be dishonest and trade in a faulty DS Lite that some poor sap will buy second hand and have to return it to GAME.
