You've lost me CyDoNiA :?

I thought the new iphone 4G is made of reinforced glass which is as hard as Sapphire Crystal, so is pretty much scratch proof and no need for aftermarket protective casing. Or is it just Apple marketing BS?

I have a watch with sapphire crystal, hard wearing for over ten years and theres not one scratch on the face. So, is the iphone 4G as durable?

Apparently, putting the iphone 4g in a case can alleviate its reception issue.

The official advice is to "avoid gripping it in the lower left corner in a way that covers both sides of the black strip in the metal band".

Alternatively, said Apple, customers could buy a case to shield the antenna...

...The problem is thought to be particularly acute for left-handed owners who naturally touch the phone in the sensitive area.

The casing of Apple's latest phone is made of stainless steel, which also serves as its antenna.

Apple sells a rubber "bumper" that shields the sensitive area as do many other firms.

Got told that yesterday when buying; aparently screen protectors are now not sold with with any cases for the 4G. Only anti glare ones that Apple approve. This applies to the Apple Store obviously. Suppose its about personal preference really; if you are reasonably careful and don't put keys/coins in the same pocket I can't see any scratches happening.

Apparently it is a software issue with iOS4 and apple are releasing iOS 4.01 next week

Or a piece of sellotape or even nail varnish in the said area sorts it
Although for a brand new product it is pretty bad that you should have to do this.

And unecessary if it's a software problem as stated before. I am 100% certain that if it were a hardware issue it would have been spotted in the testing phase; so it was bound to be a software issue. I mean the grip style that "caused" the issue is common; so why wouldn't Apple have noticed it before?

good deal, this is the exact same case i paid 2.99 for on amazon, and that was cheap i thought.

What if all the iPhone hardware was kept and only tested inside a fake 3G case? Since that is what happened.... The case would have prevented such an issue from occurring, no?
