New PS2 Games - £1.98 instore @ HMV

As title. Figured it required a thread seperate from the buzzers one - Loads of new PS2 games instore at HMV for £1.98, presumably nationwide (both Leeds and Birmingham so far). They all apear to be stickered as pre-owned though ("re/play") so may be in the pre-owned section of the store, but are deffinately new. I enquired at the till and the guy said they must just be part of a sale, as all prices were legit.

Games so far include:

Guitar Hero 5
Band Hero
Rock Band Song Pack 2
Buzz Quiz + Buzzers
Disney Sing It
Cars Race O Rama
Need For Speed Undercover
The Sims 2 Pets
More From HMV :

I assure you, they're new, every one of them (and that includes about 10 others not pictured) After a couple years cleaning DVD cases, I can kinda tell by the silky smooth feel of the outer plastic cover that these hadn't left the store. Hell, one even had a security clip on (not sticker, brown plastic thing), only applied to new games, that wasn't noticed by the cashier as he assumed they were used too, and took me half an hour to remove at home

Plus, one guy's already purchased a new, sealed set of buzz game + buzzers that was stickered as pre-owned.

hi there when did u buy these??
whats the total price ?? they seems to be like 12 items?
#6
Leeds city center on Saturday, Birmingham Bullring has some too though (see http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/634423/ps2-ps3-wired-buzzers-plus-buzz-qui ), so presumably everywhere else as well.

I can confirm that they probably are new. I used to work for HMV and new stock did used to get marked down as preowned just to get rid of it.

They had a handful of these in the Stockport store at lunchtime - saw GH5, a few different Sing It games, Ice Age 3, GI Joe... at this point my memory is failing me for any more.....
#13
Does anyone know if these are backward compatible with PS1 ?

If you mean can you play these games on a PS1 then I suspect no is the answer. I guess it's like asking if you can play DVDs on a CD player.

The sing.... games are not reduced in my local, just the usual GTA and XIII tat.

I'll check back tomorrow, but hot for those who can get it.

It's called Capitalism, I'm afraid we're stuck with it for now. If you don't like it then try being a hippy for a few months and see how you feel.

Why is he scum? For using his initiative and making a little extra money? Are you going to pay his bills for him? If not, you've got no right to judge how other people make ends meet, especially considering the state of the economy.

Nothing in southampton.
#24
The Scum comment, a little harsh but see where it is coming from.

The point of this site is surely to help people get bargains, not for others to make money by buying up all of the stock, or am I wrong.

I believe it is simply outside the spirit of what is trying to be achieved here.

HMV im in never have good sales on!
#26
Just got back from the Chelmsford branch - they had a few copies of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra and Wall-e - all for £1.98 each, but no sign of the Buzz / Buzzers sets or anything else really. Did manage to get the only copy of Motorstorm: Arctic Edge on PS2, though - which was also at the bargain price of £1.98 (thought it was PSP only!).
#27
Thousands of copies of High School Musical Sing It in Manchester Market Street HMV
#28

#29

o yea and to the guy that called me scum last night was it really necessary cex go up to hmv themselves and buy those item and adds them to there inventory believe me I've seen it happen they bought all the beatles guitar controllers out of our local so wouldnt it be better that your fellow man gets some money in his pocket than some coporate a--
#31
Wasn't on at Reading either. Must have been store specific. :(

I was much amused to hear a guy in my local Gamestation moaning about people buying these from HMV for £1.98 just to trade in, as they were having to match CEX for their offer. He seemed especially annoyed as someone had bought Motorstorm Arctic Edge for £1.98, and they'd had to raised their usual trade in price on the game of £2 to £7 - at this point I spotted the offending item on the shelf for £29.99!

The words pot, kettle, and black sprung to mind.....

rofl. for any more spouting "****" at individuals for this, don't be under the impression that *every* *single* *store* in the world operates on the basis of buying low, selling high. Some just buy lower and sell higher than others :)
