Now even cheaper for this fantastic little mp3 player

Manufacturer's Description
Enjoy skipless music playback, photo slideshows, and videos with the sleek, easily-pocketable SanDisk Sansa e280 flash memory digital audio player with 8GB of storage. It features MP3 and WMA playback and is also compatible with secure PlaysForSure WMA files downloaded from online music stores and subscription services (like MTV's Urge, Napster, and Rhapsody). It also includes a voice recorder (via built-in microphone) and a brightly coloured 1.8-inch color TFT LCD screen.

The e280's distinctive, high-strength and lightweight back cover is made with an advanced Titanium alloy from Liquidmetal Technologies that is stronger than steel and highly resistant to scratches and wear. On the front, you'll find easy-to-use, backlit controls that make it a snap to navigate through the device's intuitive menus. The player also sports a microSD expansion slot for additional memory capacity and support for SanDisk TrustedFlash and gruvi content cards, which can be shared with mobile phones. A rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides up to a 20-hour battery life.

You can use the included SanDisk Media Converter software to convert most popular video formats (MPEG-4, WMV, DivX) into the 15 fps (frames per second) MPEG format that plays on the Sansa device. JPEG and BMP still images also get converted and downsized, and can be displayed in a slideshow. Voice recordings are saved in WAV format.

Sansa e200 series players use PlaysForSure technology. Look for the PlaysForSure logo if you're shopping for a portable music or video device and you want to make sure the digital music and video you purchase will play back on it every time. Match the PlaysForSure logo on a large selection of leading devices and online music stores. If you see the logo, you'll know your digital music will play for sure. Choose from a large number of digital music and video stores, including MTV's Urge, Rhapsody, Yahoo!, MSN Music, MusicMatch, MusicNow, Napster, Wal-Mart Music Downloads, and many more.

I have the 6gig version. Its great with a set of Sennheiser CX300's and the latest firmware upgrade.

no charger? i'm wanting a small flash MP3 player with this sort of capacity. i think i'll wait for the other brands to catch up.

I bought one of these and although it looked nice it wasn't very sturdy. The player got banged and although the case wasn't even scratched the LCD screen inside broke! :-(

Unfortunately this led me to the discovery that their customer service is a big pair of saggy pantaloons. When I got thru on the phone I ended up talking to an American lady who sounded like she had never heard of the UK (my guess is that it was a VOIP connection). It turns out that you can't get these repaired and it’s basically a bin job if anything happens to the hardware. But for them to decide you have to open an 'eBox' mail account on their website, send them a set of pictures and dismantle the player to get to the serial number inside :? Next time I buy a flash mp3 player I think I'm going to the Apple store!!

Like most players in this class, there is no charger although you can pick up an adapter to charge it off the mains easily enough these days.

I sent mine back - it wasn't very flexible, and was full of bugs! Like freezing and not being able to switch it off!

Sounds like there was a fault yours - mine hasn't frozen once nor have I had any difficulty switching it off.

As for audio quality, the main complaint I've seen is that the volume doesn't go loud enough - EU models have a volume limiter in place which can be removed by flashing it with US firmware I believe. Personally I'm quite happy with mine overall for audio quality.
