Here we appear to have an ebuyer outlet on ebay, which is selling apparently new or factory second (read the description) Samsung N130 netbooks with Windows XP, not crappy Windows 7 Starter.

It has the 6-cell battery which means longer life!!! Also FREE 24-hour P&P!!!

Limited stock, most likely clearance. I did look to see whether this had already been posted but it hasn't to my knowledge. This is my first deal so be kind to me!

Same here. Very good and sturdy
machine.

Can anyone compare this with the Dell Minis ?
#5
Thanks for the hints - how stupid of me not to put the price in the title!

And thank you for the comments :)
#6
Really nice spot OP - this should be a lot hotter than it is.

Just awaiting the "ebay outlet, god they are all crap" comments, without any justification.

As with all Netbooks, upgrade the RAM to 2GB.

I got one of these last October for about £180.

As for XP vs Windows 7, mine is much better now it has Windows 7 on it (not Starter version though).

I've just Seven-ed the wife's Aspire One A751h from XP as well and it's turned it into a much better machine all round.

Ah... some of those terrible self-opening Netbooks?
Just can't get gear to stay in it's box nowadays.

Funny as some would say if it's been opened it's probably because it's been sent back!
Oh... but they do, so it's a NEW second?

What sort of description is that? It's crap that's what sort. :-(

Title would better read, "Netbook Lucky Dip!

The sooner eBay items are banned again, the better... this is exactly the sort of misleading tripe eBay is full of nowadays :-(

Relative bought one of these last week from Argos for £230.

It is pretty good, it is very slightly slow (but I say this when my main PC is a Core i7 with 6GB of Ram).

I was going to get one for myself at £230 but held off, but for £170 it was too much of a bargain and have ordered.

The only thing I hope is that the screen does not come marked to high heaven and I will be happy.

Would it matter if he did, this is a very good deal; £100 off RRP.

I don't think any member of Ebuyer staff would risk "self promoting" again after the problems it caused last time.

I am a member of Ebuyer staff, and whilst I can't really comment on how good the deal is I will say that I run one of these quite happily with Ubuntu Linux. :-D A lot faster without the MS bloatware.

I don't work for Ebuyer, not sure why you would think that! Just spotted it on ebay and it happened to be the Ebuyer outlet...

I do plan to dual boot XP and Ubuntu, though.

Don't think it's £100 off -

Also in Argos for £229 plus £10 Voucher promotion.

Yeah I was very tempted by that deal but if thats the deal through the argos outlet, they were specifically reconditioned...plus I was put off by the 3-cell battery and lack of good customer support from argos. But that's just my opinion!

I said that I couldn't comment on how good he deal is...which I haven't.

My comments were merely obvservations about my experience with this machine, albeit running a different operating system. :)

I have this netbook and both XP and ubuntu netbook remix run fine dual booted. Need the ndis wrapper thing though for wireless chip though if you going to install ubuntu.

The battery life is amazing when put along my acer 6935g, to be expected as 2 totally different machines but it still impressive.
#24
Hot!

It says 77 sold so far....

Has to be worth a punt with 12 months warranty. I would put Ubuntu on it too.

Any info on the "ndis wrapper thing"?

I've just ordered one

Smokin' hot - been after a cheap netbook for aaaaaaaaaaaages... finally took the plunge :)

Yeah, it's because Ubuntu may not have the driver for the wireless network device that's built into this netbook so an NDISwrapper is a piece of software that allows the use of the Windows XP drivers in Linux, instead of having to go without wireless in Linux.

It'll take a short search to find the right one once you know what wireless adapter you are dealing with...and since I'm intending to dual boot, then I'll be looking into how to do this too!

You are commenting on this machine on this thread which is a thread concerning an offer from ebuyer and you don't think you are boosting the deal itself - semantics. You sound like an MP after the expenses scandal :whistling:

No delivery to N Ireland :-(

In the postage and payments section it suggests otherwise, unless Northern Ireland has suddenly become a United Ireland, Peter Robinson wont be pleased

Dispatches to United Kingdom.

Come on ebuyer - are you going to fulfil orders from all of the UK?

thanks, just ordered, but i really did not need a netbook as i already have a hi spec laptop. should stop visiting this site:x:x:x

It's easy enough, just do a search in the package manager for "ndis" and install the 1st one you find which also comes with a GUI. After that it shows you available drivers, pick one and bobs your uncle.

I'm pretty clueless with linux but found a guide on the net and got up and running within 20 min. Any probs just PM me and ill look for the exact details (on a diff PC)

Yeah I know how you feel. When the O2 Joggler was down to £50 I was REALLY tempted to get one as you can boot linux on it and effectively have a touch screen PC. I literally had to talk to loads of people and force them to remind me that I don't need one and what would I do with it if I got one.

Saying that, I have a decent spec laptop and for me it's impossible to take it with me everyday as it weighs 3.5kg, whereas these notebooks weigh so little and fit into the smallest of backpacks, so ideal for me as my other laptop isn't really "portable".
#38
Just taken the plunge...........Don't NEED the product as usual, but seems a great deal!

My Current Dell Laptop has Battery issues............problem solved! :)

My OH would like to know too, as he is so jealous of my NC10.
