New Sky+HD prices and options

Sky have recently changed they box production and are no longer making sky+. Standard boxes are only being made for multiroom. This means if you want a new box it automatically becomes Sky+HD. because of this all HD box prices have became less. Prices below are for existing customer booking first HD box over the phone:

Sky+HD on its own - WITH HD mix:

Box was £49 install was £60
Box now £0 Install now £60

Sky+HD WITH multiroom AND HD mix :

Box was £49 install was £30
Box now £0 Install now £30

Sky+HD on its own with self install WITH HD mix. Sent In post must have sky+ already:

NEW Option
Box now £0 Delivered £30

Sky+HD on its own - WITH NO HD mix*

Box was £199 Install was £60
Box Now £99 Install now £60

Booked online:

Sky+HD WITH HD MIX and multiroom

Box was £49 Install was £30
Box Now £0 Install now £0

*Taking the Sky+HD box WITHOUT the HD mix gets the sky+ function and freesat HD channels (channel 4hd, BBC HD, itvHD (can be added search Google)) This is now basically the sky+ box but at half the price it was(sky+ box was £99) but with a hard drive upto 3x the size. HD mix £10/month. Multiroom £10/month

HD boxes now are coming with 500GB hard drive and in case you are interested there is now a premium HD box with 1.5TB hard drive but I am afraid it comes with a premium price tag. £309 installed.

Hope this information helps anyone considering getting HD.

**************Please vote on wither the deal is good or not. Not on the basis that you hate sky, Virgin media are better or you feel that you should receive the box install and subscription for free for life.*****************

Please remember quidco is for NEW customers only, if you take thi deal and have an existing subscription, then quidco will be declined

Also if you get a box sent through the post you will probably get the 160gb box, as Sky are trying to offload these, the 250gb boxes are being given out by the engineers that visit your home

Thanks for the info.
Just checked the Sky website and didn't find the options though.
I have Sky+HD downstairs and Sky+ upstairs (Multiroom) so I wanted to change the upstairs box to Sky+HD too.

Thanks OP. I've been toying with upgrading from my rather dated Sky (not plus) since I got my new plasma telly, and this might be the time to do it.

Hot deal for some, still not convinced of paying extra for hd, for how long are these company gonna rip us off for, now they ll start selling 3d tv to us !
#4
So....I currently just have Sky+...On the new prices, I can get a HD box for free, with free (diy) installation and just pay £10/month for the HD channels?
#5
Also if you don't take out any premium channels you can get multi room lite!
My current setup 2 x HD boxes (both over 1 year old) no premium channels multi room lite (extra £5 a month) I also don't subscribe to the HD channels.
You only have to take out the HD subscription if you buy your box from Sky with a 12 month contract.

Just curious, why is there an apostrophe in price's but not in options? :?

Good spot!! I voted cold because of that blatant grammar mistake, can we get the member banned do you think?

:?
I know its early in the morning, but i can't get my head round it.

I have sky plus with 3 channel mix if i wanted the hd box with just the free hd channels how much would i need to pay per month??
#8
Just spoke to Sky.... good deal if you do not have HD. If you've already got HD then the cost for a HD box for multiroom is 199 + install - SO MUCH FOR LOOKING AFTER LOYAL CUSTOMERS!!!!

#13
Great info. Thanks for the heads up.

And thanks to Scampa as well for the info about multiroom Lite.

Based on this can I get the SKY+HD box self install with No HD mix for only £30 ? That would be amazing.

Thats the bit I'd like to see confirmed as well, Sky haven't done any of my installation work in the past 10 Yrs, any upgrades, moving dish, multi LNB have been done mostly by myself...disconnecting the 2 LNB feeds, putting an HD box in place , attaching the 2 feeds....not exactly rocket science...

so a confirmation that someone got one posted for £30 and put it in themselves...priceless...:-D

So basically if you've got sky + you can buy a HD box for £30 and get all the free HD channels or you can pay an extra tenner a month and get sky sports etc in high def also (that's if you are already subscribed to sports).

Is that right?

I can't imaging they would be that generous! If they are, they will be swamped with requests (me included).

Been trying to organise this myself but I've encountered a problem.

I currently have Sky+ downstairs and a standard upstairs using multiroom.

Trying to go through an online order with the free box and free install and its bunging an extra multiroom on also with no way to alter it.

So basically its charging me:

£48 - Sky World Package
£10 - Mutiroom
£10 - Sky HD pack
£10 - Multiroom.

A bit annoying and I've been on to the sky customer service and they couldn't help me,

Well you never know, They have so many customers that are not HD customers.

But if this is true then I can imagine a lot of people going for the option:

Box Now £0 Install now £0

Which basically will mean an extra £120 extra going to SKY because of the HD plan a year (£10 a month).

I have been reluctant on paying those £10 but if this is true then I might go for it.
#20
hmmm i hope this true, but so far no one can confirm any of these details so i'm gonna be sceptical and not vote until we get some clarification
#21
just been online myself as an existing Sky subscriber and I, not able to find any option to havean HD box posted to me for self install...anyone else know how to get it?

"Sky+HD on its own with self install. Sent In post must have sky+ already:

NEW Option
Box now £0 Delivered £30"

with respect to the OP, it's not much of a "find", if it can't be "found"...this was a good heads up, hope it doesnt start getting cold because nobody can actually get it.

COULD ONE OF YOU GUYS WHO HAVE JUST GOT THE DEAL ELABORATE A BIT MORE, POSSIBLY ATTACH PHONE NUMBERS AND AN INDICATION OF WHO TO ASK FOR?
#22
Not really a DEAL because this is just the price you pay.....you cant get it cheaper, you cant get it dearer....this just IS the price...so voted COLD...sorry
#23
i got HD before christmas, i was lucky enough to get a token off a member of another forum for free install and box. only condition was a 12month contract + £10 for the HD channels.

i really can't see you getting the HD(Free) channels for nothing!!!! without a doubt they will charge you, i could be wrong but doubt it with Sky.

Yes, I just got off the phone and they confirmed these deals. Only thing is with the £30 delivered option you DO have to pay the £10 extra for the HD channels.

So I think you are better off going for the Online one in which you get a new install and HD box for free when you apply for multiroom. You must get a new Multiroom though. So in my case I will have to cancel my current multiroom before and then apply for this deal. Otherwise I would have to have 2 multiroom.

You can ring them yourselve and ask

soooo true about the hd question. the hd box might be free..but does that mean you are FORCED to take the hd channels for £10 a month?
#26
yes that's right, just phoned myself, the £30 self install option MUST have the £10 HD subscription otherwise it's £99

:-(
#27
Don't know if u no if you buy Sky with currys for new customers its
Free box, £30 install and £30 cash back

so 0 for box and install but you need to take HD pack

Does anyone know if this commits you to a new 12 month minimum period? I've had sky for 3 years, but my house is on the market, so plan on moving soon. Don't want to get caught in a 12 month commitment!
#30
Not quite sure I follow all this, I'm a sky customer we only have Sky+ with the movies package. With this offer I can upgrade my old sky+ box to a sky hd box without taking the HD sub for £49 ? :s

I have just ordered the box on its own for £30 ..getting it delivered end of week ! No HD subscription needed either , I said I'll look at the free to view ones 1st to see and then if interested I'd take out the HD subs for £10 a month ... they said that was fine , No need to subscribe now at all !!!!

correct !!! I have just done the same ..will watch the free HD channels 1st , plus the sky HD box is much better than the sky+ one ..more disc space etc , quicker speed etc
#33
If you go for the £30 self install + £10 per month option, are you forced to get the whole package for 12 months.

i.e. do I need to pay for movies and sports too?

Thanks
#34
Anyone know if these are good for existing customers? we only have the regular sky from a couple of years ago.

Could you confirm if you phoned them or went online to get the box for £30 please?

I can only guess if you have phoned up and got through to a Sky numpty and gave you the box for £30, can't imagine Sky giving these away for £30 without the £10 subscription. Thanks.

Sorry, this is not to doubt you, just wanted one myself for that price :-D

Ippy, I'm in a similar situation. I have a Sky+ box in my room as part of multiroom, and want to change it to a Sky+ HD box. Wonder if that's possible...
#38
We only have basic sky with all the normal channels (no movies or sports) and we dont have multiroom and dont want it. Do you think we could get the HD box just for £30?
#39
@ mikbish,

i had to ring Sky up to have the HD channels activated including the free ones. i really do hope you are right, but i just can't see it.
#40
I was told we have to take out the £10 a month subscription to get the free box and self install (£30)

How are some people getting away with not paying extra £10 a month?
