Is it better than a blackberry?
#2
I would think so. The p990i does have blackberry software

Note that wayfinder is a subscription based gps application.
TomTom mobile worked fine on P990i, so there's a big chance it also works on the P1i

I am looking into upgrading to a P1i.

I have a SE P990i with Tomtom installed on my phone and it work fine with a GPS receiver.

Does any one know if Tomtom would work if I remove the memory card which contains the Tomtom application and insert it into a SE P1i

Looks like a good deal, just to check, whereabouts does it tell you about the free GPS?

The "Go to deal" link just leads me to a page saying "You have no items in your shopping basket.", so I selected the phone from the drop down, and the first deal was as you described, although I didn't see anything about free GPS, you mentioned this was when you go to checkout...is that after you start entering infomation?

Also, does anyone know if its possible to port from O2 PAYG to an O2 Contract via Dial-a-phone, I know you can do it via the O2 site, but this porting lark gets a bit confsuing :?

Cant be done i just tried it last week. For some reason dialphone dont allow it.
You would have to port to another network then back to 02.I just went with a new number couldnt be bothered with the hassle.

http://www.dialaphone.co.uk/googledap/help.html#Number%20Portability

"Please note that Porting means that you are transferring your mobile number from one Network to another and therefore it is not possible to port your number on the same Network."

How do you subscribe to Wayfinder, is it a 1 off fee or does it depend on data received and transmitted?

I remember the older versions (for P900 and P910) were monthly subs. I think it could be a one off fee for the software now, to compete against TomTom.

Edit: Just checked their official site and the requirements for Navigator 7 are:

This is what you need

A Wayfinder Navigator™ 7 compatible mobile phone.

Data subscription (GPRS, EDGE or 3G/UMTS) from your mobile operator/wireless carrier
Thank's for reply, was wanting to put a payg sim in and give other sim to the mrs and have a none subscription sat nav installed where it doesn't take any credit at all, any idea on the cheapest software to buy and do they do oem versions?

Received this phone yesterday, does come with wayfinder and a very small gprs receiver, worked first time, touch screen is brill especially turning bluetooth on/off from main screen. Wi fi works spot on and loads of applications and games etc available free for direct downloads. All in all very pleased with the phone and cheaper than buying outright, and the benefit of 400 free minutes and 500 texts.
#14
when do you get the cashback?
#15
Hi Sarbjeet, Your £145.00 cashback is available by redemption in 3 stages: £45.00 at month 6, £50.00 at month 9 and £50.00 at month 12.
Can see you have been struggling to get 1 of these, this might be an option for you. I have had cashbacks with these before and never had any probs. I know some of the other companies are a bit dodgy. If you recommend a friend you also get £20, not sure if both get it or just 1, but if you are interested give me a shout. Hope this helps.
#16
i was gonna spend £200 for it without sim just the phone. this is just £15 more and a proper contract. im gonna have a think about and ill give you a shout if i want it.

it wont as the p1i takes different memory cards (the p990 takes memory stick duos and the p1i takes the memory stick micro m2 cards)

Has this expired can't find any mention of the free GPS receiver and software?
#30
nope still there but they dont show, find the deal on thier site as there is no direct link and then add to basket and then look at the bottom you will see a small tab about gifts its says in that.
#31
Also available here through mobileexpress with £170 cashback which is owned by dialaphone but no quidco it seems.

I tried 3 times to order P1 from Dialaphone with O2 contract. Every time I was getting this message:
"We regret to advise you that, O2 (UK) Limited have informed us that they are unable to proceed with your application as their status criteria has not been met on this occasion. Therefore we are unable to despatch a handset to you.

Due to data protection, O2 (UK) Limited have not provided the reason for their decision and unfortunately we are not able to assist you further in this matter."

My Credit Rating is good, I had a contract with O2 for 12 months, never missed a payment, it just expired recently, when I went to O2 shop they did a quick check and said that there is no problem for me to get a contract. I took a contract with T-Mobile, at the same time when placing the order for P1i from O2 for the second time, and that was proceeded without problems.
Does anyone have any idea what can be the problem?
It is very frustrating...
#33
ring thier customer service they will advise you on what to do.
#34
They told me that they have nothing to do with it and O2 don't inform them what is wrong. They said that maybe O2 don't want to sell a contract via 3rd party and do want me to go strait to them. Is that can be true? Do they can do that? Anyone had the same problem? I really want to buy it via dialaphone. Everywhere else its cost twice as much.:?:
#35
bump!
So no one ever experienced same problems? (sic!)
#36
Is this deal still on please? Seems a good price if this phone does all it says on the tin!

Always get Sony phones and this sounds great but can't find out much info on it at all.

Bit confused as to what you get with the satnav bit. What exactly is the setup and are there any extra costs to running the sat nav?

Thanks in advance.
