It is not unlimited, I had this last year at my uni house, and a lot of the time the internet was unusable, thanks to this "traffic management".

Refer to the link above, only 50mb broadband is unlimited.
They also charged us an extra £15 disconnection fee, even after we'd been told on the phone that it would be totally free. Nothing but trouble from these guys.

we have this 20mb + phone line, the speed at night time (from 6 -10) is usually not that good. during the day it's ok though

cold really!!! go for O2. With 3 months free on sign up, I guess you end up paying only for 9 months!!!

i am with virgin and have never had problem with speeds, traffic management, 2 laptops and 2 xbox live on the go and no one seems to find a problem in my house , and never had problem with limits

Sadly Virgin is one of the few choices for students, as it has a 9 month contract which is good for all those living in rented accommodation, otherwise you'd have to pay even more money for an early disconnection fee. That and it's one of the few where you don't need a landline for it to work.
Shame about the quality it gives though, if you're on 20mb or below.
