£29.99 for the regular edition at Gameplay, but the Limited Tin Edition has been reduced to £34.99 from £44.99, on GAME's website.

Developers at Nintendo have dreamed of creating a simultaneous multiplayer Super Mario Bros. game for decades. The Wii console finally makes that dream come true for everyonethis holiday season. Now players can navigate the side-scrolling worlds alone as before orinvite up to three others to join them at the same time on the same level at any point in thegame for competitive and cooperative multiplayer fun. With the multiplayer mode, the newest installment of the most popular video game franchise is designed to bring yet another type of family entertainment into living rooms and engage groups of friends in fast-paced Super Mario Bros. fun.

New Super Mario Bros Wii features:
New Super Mario Bros. Wii offers a combination of cooperation and competition. Players can pick each other up to save them from danger or toss them into it.
Mario, Luigi and two Toads are all playable characters, while many others from the Mushroom Kingdom make appearances throughout the game. Players can even ride different Yoshi characters and use their tongues to swallow enemies - or their fellow players.
In some areas, players use the motion abilities of the Wii Remote controller. The first player to reach a seesaw might make it tilt to help his or her character reach a higher platform - and then tilt it incorrectly just to mess with other players.
New items include the propeller suit, which will shoot players high into the sky with just a shake of the Wii Remote and Mario's new ability to transform into Penguin Mario.
At the end of each stage during the simultaneous multiplayer mode, players are ranked based on their score, the coins collected and the number of enemies defeated.

If it was completely made of tin it would be.

However, it is probably aluminium with a tin plated layer (if any exists at all).

Good game but playing this last night with 2 players you can't help but get in each others way bouncing off each others heads all the time. Nice idea but not sure it lends itself to multiplayer...

Finished this game. Although the nostalgia is there, mario is staler than the queens privates.

I think they were inspired with litle big planet when they implemented the multiplayer in this game, unfortunately the multiplayer is more of a hinderance than a gameplay enhancement. You continuously have to lay in wait for the other person to catch up, or watch them flounder and die trying to save them.

Was reading a few of the reviews last night, and they all (except for sites/magazines with nintendo in the title) agreed with this.

Very good one player mode tho.

,,,much like online gaming in "LittleBIGPlanet" :)

But yes, I agree, Mario needs a facelift for this millennium... just like "Project Needlemouse" will return the "Sonic the Hedgehog" series back to 1991.

Mario "The Jumpman Carpenter" Mario should have stuck trying to scale platforms in "Donkey Kong". Luigi is much easier on the eye! :)

Seriously, though, there are some good Mario titles, some bad Mario titles, and some extremely fun Mario titles. I think I'll wait until this one drops a little in price from what has been said about the multiplayer aspects so far.

Erm i cant see the regular version for £29.99 ???

Got a feeling that this will be the next big game that the supermarkets will have a price war on. Its the biggest Wii game of the xmas season so it could go down to £25 like Modern Warfare 2.

i live in a small town we have a Tesco and an ASDA and thats it, the ASDA prolly stocked about 100 units of modern warefare 2 and sold them in around 5 mins, Tesco on the other hand is a large 24 hour store and they had at least 300 just on display at 12.01am when i picked up my copy and at 9 am when i returned for some bits they had zero copies! now when i picked mine up i ended up buying some crap to eat that night and drinks and got a few essetials etc so i f everyone did that Tesco made some serious money, i wouldnt be suprised if Both ASDA and Tesco sold every AAA title form now on @ £25-£32 quid. i also took up the offer to get modern warfare for £25.00 if i bought another 20 chart title.

I'm a sucker for these collectables :)

Shame the game is awful though

You've confirmed my suspicion that people who slavishly buy collector's editions have no concept of fun.

Yep - a GAME employee told me that it would be £34.99 instore too, but he didn't sound too confident, so probably £44.99 :whistling:

I'm hoping Morrisons will do a decent deal, as they did Mario and Sonic at The Olympic Games for £18.99 when that was released.

Oh, and Gameplay have raised their price to £32.99 - Boo!!
#32
typical, i just go to buy it and its sold out :( expired!
#33
