A good price for this unit but it is a crippled system, it will not accept third party poi's or speed camera databases. There are loads of updating problems such as unable to use latest map guarantee which may be fixed with a software update later this month.

I'd send it back if I were you, as already mentioned this model is worse than useless,Tomtom rushed it out Google it you wont believe how bad the reviews are from people who've bought it.

I've read good reviews :) hmmmm
#5
One review said you can't change the brightness settings

Well that's untrue because you can

** I have just downloaded myTomTom and then connected the unit, absolutely no problems!

Been having a play with it earlier and there is some neat things, it even recognised me saying a street name in St.Andrews (voice activated)

I have also bought screen protectors and a case, the unit is brilliant and so far so good

very very happy with it

The unit is very capable but some of the functions don't work. What map version have you got ? 8.60 is the latest. If it is not this you have 30 days to get your free upgrade, just try to do it.
#7
I have Map: 'Europe' v855.3019
#8
So when it says latest map guarantee on the back of the box.....it means

Muhahahahahaha lol

I'm gona give tomtom a call on the 4th, see what they say
#9
Spoke to TomTom this afternoon, the new map versions 8.60 was pulled because people were having problems with it. It's being introduced hopefully end of January, even if it was over the 90 days I would still be entitled to the newest guarantee update!

Looking good and used the Via today, what a great system :) very very happy with it

Agreed a good unit but should it ever have been released in other than a fully functional state.
#12

#13
I will expire this but always keep an eye on it

The price fluctuates very much between
£149

It's a fabulous unit by the way, amazing screen and very quick performance :)

yes looking around for one of these new tomtom's theres actually some decent deals on ebay for new ones so probably go down that road. Had a tomtom ages ago then went to navigon, it probably had better maps but the navigation was rubbish so going back to what I know!
#17
ok found and brought this for £80 (new) from 3rd party seller on Amazon, don not really need all the connected services so great deal me thinks!
#18
Nice find, you won't be disappointed mate

Remember what I have said above:

The 30 day map update guarantee has been extended to 90 days, I called them up and even if it goes over the 90 your still entitled to the update :)

There also rolling in at the same time as the update: pay 4 quarterly payments of e.g £5 (£20 but can increase/decrease by £1 or so) and you get 4 updates per year. Usually map updates cost in the region of £40 so this is a great cheaper way, which I'll be doing :)
