What sort of nobend installs 32bit operating system on a computer that's being sold with 4GB of RAM?

that'll be dell, the same total muppets that managed 'repair' my laptop and insist it was fully working, however they didnt re-connect the fan so after 10 seconds it would just turn off. In my experience Dell are ok until *anything* goes wrong with your machine, then you need to find God and pray...

totally disagree i have really hammered my laptop and it has broken a few times and i have found the technicians very good and always repaired my laptop first time. They do have 3rd parties reapiring them so may be just a rubbish technician or i got a good one on yorkshire

of course i was generalising, it is of course luck of the draw, but it was quite laughable the state they left my 'repaired' laptop in!

It's a Business class system and they can be very conservative so that’s why Dell gives the option for 32 bit. Their consumer systems tend to be 64 bit only where appropriate; i.e Windows 7 starter is 32 bit only.
