Great find.

Does this happen to use the same type of power socket as the WD Elements drives? I find it easier to use one power cord/plug, and attach it to each drive as it's needed.

thanks brill find

I do the same & power connector should work just fine. The more modern WD drives use a Mini USB connector so if you have an older Elements drive that might not work if you want to share that cable too.

The PS3 will only recognise drives with a 32GB partition or smaller - you'd be wasting the vast majority of space on this.

Not quite true. I have a 250gb drive currently connected. The only draw back if i recall was that it has to be formatted in fat which has a 4gb file size limit. (this is from memory) But it is possible just jump on google.

Here's what I think. I have a 2tb hard drive connected via USB to my PS3. The drive must be formatted to FAT32 and not NTFS but this is easily changed, all this means is that any one single file on the drive can't be larger than 4gb but you can still fill it up to 2tb. Hope this helps

I use ubuntu server running on an old p4 (£50) to stream 1080p to tvs and pcs, ps3. Got 2.5tb external storage connected to it. Takes a little work but its an awesome solution.

Interesting - I had a 120gb drive and it would only recognise a 32gb FAT32 partition

It seems the PS3 will cope, but it was a windows problem creating a larger partition. I'll have to try with a reformat using a different tool

Wrong, as long as it is formatted to FAT32 it will work fine...
