Sweet deal. Plus they're using the Vodaphone network, so extra bonus for clogging it up with unlimited net! :)

Thanks for the reminder that they use the Vodafone network - meant to include this in description as might not suit everyone.

Very good deal, and nicely done.

does it still have crap screen resolution like the old one?

3.2" high resolution display

Still I think Wildfire is crap, but the deal itself is awesome.

Hot deal, but I can't get my order to work (Grrrr!)

I get as far as the second screen (where you make a small authorisation payment on your credit card) and then it boots me back to the first screen (where you enter name, address etc) with all of the previously entered data wiped with an error message of:

"There was an error attempting to place your order. Please review your order details and try again" .
I've tried 3-4 times using different cards and double checking all of the details are completed etc. Anybody else having this problem?

Despite posting the deal I didn't order myself. Sorry you are having problems trying to order - hopefully you can get it sorted. Might be worth calling them on 0800 049 4401 to ascertain the problem but then completing order online to get the £60 Quidco (or mention the Quidco to them on the phone and they might give you a better deal than the one on the website).

Actually, just had a look on the website and it seems to be undergoing maintenance as most parts not working properly - mentioned on the thread posted after mine for the Samsung Galaxy S. Probably best checking back later or calling them direct.

Amazing Deal. Ive seen this in person and its fantastic value for money. It's a small improvement over the old wildfire model, but the extras are more than welcome. It can be a little bit less responsive than top end Android phones, but i'd expect nothing less for the price.

Have some heat!

Hot deal, but has anyone been able to actually make a successful payment or check out?
It's seems the website has been down for ages.
Or has anyone been able to confirm via phone if this deal can be paid for over the phone?

Double the resolution of the old one (480x320). Same as the iPhone 3GS.
#13
This is a much better phone than the original, purely because of the improved screen. A ton of apps weren't available on the wildfire because of the 320x240 resolution. £180 for a full year brings this into San Francisco levels of awesomeness (that one's £79 + say a 12 month £10 a month sim only deal = £200 a year)
#14
I like it. Vodafone is only network I can use where I live.

Ive been after a new deal. im already with vodaone but contract is up next month. if i got this how do i go about getting my number swapped over please

I believe it is a printing error, new info out tomorrow....1gig of internet, not unlimited. Still a hot deal.

Voted hot. Just ordered one no problems with website.
Nice new phone for me and my wife can have my 3 month old san francisco.

What is this difference between the S and the original Wildfire?
3 Likes #19
Full spec can be found here (Wildfire S): http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_wildfire_s-3777.php
Full spec of the original Wildfire here: http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_wildfire-3337.php

Main Features of the Wildfire S being:

Type TFT capacitive touchscreen, 256K colors
Size 320 x 480 pixels, 3.2 inches
Internal 512 MB ROM, 512 MB RAM
OS Android OS, v2.3 (Gingerbread)
CPU 600 MHz processor

It is better than the original Wildfire (more ram, bigger res and slightly faster CPU). In comparison to the San Fran it is almost the same, however this phone has a smaller screen res still (320x480 vs 480x800 of the San Fran)

On the plus side, this has v2.3 where as this is only currently possible via mods such as CyanogenMod on the San Fran and the original Wildfire

Thanks OP, just ordered. The PAYG retail price is around £199+VAT I believe, so its an absolute bargain. Voted HOT, HOT, HOT!

Website seems to be working fully now. I really liked the original Wildfire until I compared it to the resolution on the San Fran - the increase in resolution on this newer model should make a big improvement. As the screen is slightly smaller at 3.2 instead of 3.5 for the San Fran hopefully should bring it on par.
The main benefits it will have over the San Fran is running 2.3 straight out the box and no need for customising. Also, the build quality is far superior and camera is significantly better than the San Fran (might actually go for this and get rid of my San Fran).

deal isn't too bad i guess, the phone is still pretty poor, the orange san francisco has same cpu and higher resolution.

orange will be bringing out the zte skate soon which is 800mhz, 4.3" 480x800 android 2.3 phone soon, might be worth waiting for a deal on that at orange.

Brilliant deal for a HTC handset.

Very pleased to see 12 month contracts making a comeback. I could never be in a contract for 24 months. After my current 12 month contract is up, I'll probably just buy my phone unlocked and go on sim-only or could do 12 months at a push but never 18 or 24.

Was trying to get one the whole day, but had many issues with the website. But just managed to place an order 10 minutes ago. HOT!!!

Its real easy to do.

Call up vodafone ask for your PAC Code.
Then call up your new network when you get your new contract (in this case talk mobile) say you want to port over your existing number, give them your pac code then it will be transferred over within a couple of days. :)
I've switched from vodafone to o2 and then back to vodafone and had no problems.
Porting your number usually automatically cancels your existing contract too.

this is hotter than the san francisco!
unlimited internet, 200mins wins the deal.
£10 for 12months =120 quid. so the phone is practically 60quid given you got your quidco done.
60 quid for htc wildfire S!
(just need to unlock this to o2 somehow)

Thanks for the suggestions earlier. The website seems to be behaving more normally now, but I still can't place an order. Keep getting "Payment Failure - We were unable to process your transaction. " after the second, card payment screen. Again I've tried with different cards (2 Visa debit and 1 Visa credit) and my wife's also tried with hers.

Think I'm gonna give up - it was a replacement phone for my son who lost his Orange San Francisco recently, but without the prospect of Quidco it's more than I'm willing to pay.

Thanks anyway OP.

so how does quidco work excatly?

It's 20 a month, not 10

if you kept reading i said the phone is practically 60 quid. going back to the £180. if you managed to ge quidco.
hope that helps XD

heres the maths
20*12=240 quid for whole contract
then 60 pount off with quidco. £180 (keep that in mind)

now let us see this deal as £10 a month for the unlimited internet and 200mins and txt £10/month as giffgaff is more or less like that.
so thats £10x12=£120. so the remaining is 180-120=60 quid. so given you always top up £10 a month i mean most people do for their internet allowance.
so the phone will practically be £60.

if you meant skype. then yes it has skype
reference:
http://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/get-skype/on-your-mobile/download/skype-for-android/
it does has its inbuilt gps.
you can use googlemaps or the free one. many recommend google maps.

if you believe 3.5 inch is good for a gps than i cant see why not. you might want to check it out instore first.

I've called up orange to get my PAC code so I can transfer my number and after waiting for 30mins I was told the department has shut. Is it possible for me to take out this contract with talkmobile and then once I get my PAC code, then transfer my number?
Because I'm worried this deal will be gone by the time I even get my PAC code.

Just go for the deal, as long as you are out of contract they must supply you with a PAC Code to enable you to switch.

TalkMobile have some really bad reviews for high charges when you go over your tariff usage.

swipe is a way of typing, sliding your fingers across the keyboard, i don't know if this phone has it built-in but i'm sure if you root it that it might be possible, you'd have to google it.
