Is there a reason why this is cold? In fact I searched for homeplug and every device submitted over the last 2 years has been voted cold? why is this?

I have been thinking of getting two so I can access i-player on my freesat box. By the looks of this I'm wondering if I should bother.

have used home plug for 4 yrs. Brilliant, just forget wireless, these are so much better. Pair up with a wireless router and you cover your mobile phone too.

Wish i knew about homeplugs sooner, great invention if your computer's in a different room to your router

Absolutely fabulous. I use Homeplugs in a large Edwardian house where WiFi isn't feasible. Neither WiFi or Homeplug are as fast as LAN cable (because every bit of data transmitted has to be labeled) but if you can't run LAN cable then Homeplug is ideal. However remember the quoted rate (ie 200 mbps) isn't the transmission rate it's the signaling rate. Also remember that these quote bps whereas we look at bytes when considering file size, so divide by 20 gives you a realistic file transfer rate of 10 Mbytes/sec. One final point LAN interfaces only operate at 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps so normally your router would limit you to 100 Mbps because it's own rate will be set at this.
