Looks impressive except for the resistive screen....

Looks similar to the Apad/Epad. I'm going to wait for one that has built in GPS and has a sim card slot rather than relying on an external dongle.

Does this have access to the Market?

What about Froyo?
Have you played with the screen? Is it like the NDS.

thnks bluearmy01, I have M001 android tablet (as seen on here a few months ago) looks like everyone is getting in on the tablet market

Yam_Yam,

No idea about the Froyo update but i would like to think so, I can olny assume it will access the MArketplace via wifi and the screen is the DS type touchscreen yes...
The screen seems to be the major downside but other than that its a great alternative to the Ipad and Galaxy Tab.
Plus at least if it goes wrong you can give it back to Next to fix!

I have one of these (arrived yesterday), thought Id have a play with Android - one word - RUBBISH!

Its the Elonex model as being reported on Bitterwallet, the screen res is crap, response is pretty naff & its slow as hell..

Oh yes & it thinks its a phone..with Android installed websites you visit think your on a mobile phone so display their mobile versions, not a good feature really..

I'll let the kids have it to pretend its like my ipad..! Save your cash & put it towards an ipad!!

Bummer. Thanks for the review leel2000. I want an ipad but no available funds at the moment, this might have been an alternative as I've got an account at Next. Perhaps not!

completely agree, as soon as the ipad was announced, i thought this looked like an idea device, for a quick surf and email checking, without waiting for the pc to boot up

but then the price was released, and i though it was too expensive.

so as i have a android phone and its great, i though i would try an android tablet, which cost about £90 for a 7" device. when i got it was poor, unresponsive and not worth the money, and resold on ebay after a few days

I have just got a ipad, and believe me its at another level to the current range of android devices, this is down to 1) the current hardware, and 2) android doesn't currently lend its self to the table market.

the problem is with the current lot of android tablets is that manufactures have seen how successful the ipad has been and want to compete, the problem has been what os to use:
1) windows doesn't lend its self to a device of this size, plus needs higher spec hardware
2) other versions of linux, as the netbook market has shown, linux is unpopular
3) android, phone based os, not really ready for tablets (yet) and due to contained hardware, non have access to the market place, and google apps (major deal breaker)

i have read that this is a rebranded apad/epad, so resistive screen (i.e. for stylus not really for fingers) approx 2-3 hours battery (with wifi on)

and i have seen these on ebay (apad) for £160 delivered

So you bought a dodgy ebay £90 tablet then bought a £600 ipad and are surprised that the iPad is better? What about the whole market spectrum in-between? I bet you were amazed how much better your 2 grand iMac was than your £300 bag of **** desktop too. What do you mean android has no google apps? Do you mean google apps like google docs? or google apps like google maps? Either way android has both.

Linux is unpopular ey.

Apple are so lucky that people like you exist.

Looking at this demo of the elonex etouch 1000 ET which some sites are saying this is, then the guy says they are expecting to release a capacitive screened version in Q1. Mind you they also say that this is £159! Interesting but I'd like a few more features given that the smaller orange san francisco seems to be feature packed for £99.
