If anyone's looking at getting a in car dashcam, have a look at a blog site called techmoan, he does reviews on pretty much every one that available.

+1 for checking out techmoan. Very thorough reviewer.

number 1 leading brand for what. definitely not for car cameras as hat goes to blackvue
#8
bit dumb, has a parking mode and uses a cigar lighter plug. most cigarette lighter sockets in cars are only active when the ignition is on so the parking mode won't work

+1 for checking out techmoan. Very thorough reviewer.

i had a look and laughed. clearly doesn't know much. Just checked pic quality for their best camera vico Marcus 5. laughable. Jerky, out of focus, slow to focus

far better cameras out there from blackvue and winy (ipixi)

All your points are valid but from a very quick look the cheapest Blackvue is nearly 3 times the price of this.

Worth checking out the G1W which records at 1080p rather than 720p, has the same size screen and can be had for less. It gets good reviews.

BlackVue is notorious for overpriced, underperforming, unreliable DashCams. Expensive mediocrity.

As for this deal, don't waste money on a 720p camera. £44 buys a Mobius, which is the benchmark camera for 1080p video quality, reliability, durability, discreetness, versatility & value for money in the budget sector. If you want better video quality, you'll need to spend treble the price on a Powerucc Panorama, which is the benchmark product at the premium end of the market.

Similar cash also gets the ePrance Mini 0803 which I have to admit is quite a good piece of kit. 1080p and probably the best performance for the price range at night time recording.

Looking at this Nextbase one it makes bold claims that I find a bit dubious about it's popularity. Also it looks a bit too like a sat nav for my liking which will tempt thieves. I'd rather have something discreet that won't get noticed like the G1W (£30), Mobius (£70) or the Mini 0803 (£60). The screen size I think is irrelevant other than for aiming, otherwise you don't need to see the screen.
