I own the 16gb variant which I will give up as my contract is due for renewal and I'm looking to try out iPhones. (I'm a neutral) and 16gb is really not enough for me and I'm a light user.

The phones gone leap and bound since the Android Nougat update. It's far smoother. Battery life's improved dramatically and I can get consistently over 5hrs of SOT. The camera is fast and takes photos easily on par my wife's iPhone 6s. And of course, the 5x will still be upgraded to Android O.

There's a lot of complaint on the boot loop issue. However, I think it's generally over blown because people seem to be trying to get a lg g5 on replacement.

SOT = screen on time.

To th op: are any nexus phones guaranteed the O? They've abandoned the Nexus in favour of the Pixel, haven't they?

Of course they would be guaranteed, it will also get android 8 as it came with 6. I have a Nexus player that Google discontinued and that on the latest nougat. Even though the nexus name is gone this phone will still be better for software updates than and other brand!

are you sure.. we have a nexus 5x and a nexus 5.... the 5x was updated to Nougat, version 7 but the Nexus 5 is still on version 6 and Google saying that won't be upgraded to 7.
I would bet that the 5x and the 6p will both be left on version 7 when android updates with a major jump to O.

Yes, the 5 and 5x are definitely on different update trajectories.

You seem to be forgetting that the 5 is actually 2 years older than the 5x. The 5 got it's two full updates, Lollipop and Marshmallow, the 5x started with Marshmallow, has got Nougat and, following the same pattern as the 5, should get O.

No, I am not forgetting anything, I just happen to know that the 5 stopped automatically getting Android updates already, and the 5x will continue to get them until September 2017:

I know what you mean, but its a pedantic point you are making.

The real point to an end phone user is the actual version of android they automatically end up with, and that is clearly different for the 5 and 5x.

Probably the worst Nexus ever. Also prone to the LG boot loop that effects several phones using the SD808.

Wouldnt touch anything on TalkMobile
