In effect, they are the same phones....except the camera flash!
Besides, galaxy s will get gingerbread soon...

I feel sorry for anyone who buys it on PAYG at CPW - £549.95 plus £10 top up.... lol

Some of the differences:
- A slightly curved screen on the Nexus S
- No expandable SD card slot in the Nexus S
- Addition of NFC technology
- No HD recording on Nexus S (probably will come with an update)

good price but ugly handset

I can't see enough differences between this and the Galaxy S to justify the extra cost.

Great price from what it was but not for me.

you'll be better off waiting for the dual-core phones in the new year. Tegra 2 will wipe the floor with these
banned#12
I need to stop licking my lips about DUAL CORE and TEGRA 2 because I keep getting cold sores!

Point blank anyone spending more than £250 or upgrading now are really shooting themselves in the foot because on the release of the new hardware the value of phones such as the GALAXY S, NEXUS S and HTC DESIRE HD, will plummet.

You'll be better off waiting for 30 years when nano implants will synchronise our brainwaves on demand. Mobile/smart phones and 3/4G as we now know it will be completely obsolete.

This MWC is going to mark the next generation of phones, higher res displays due to Gingerbread finally supporting different resolutions, Tegra 2 processors, dual core processors, and so on

Definitely worth waiting for if you're in the market for an Android device

Sim free is only £15 difference though... ;)

Any ideas on how long it'll take for the new dual core phones to hit the networks on the usual contract deals (£35 / month) etc? My contract lapsed about 6 months ago and I haven't upgraded yet.. Still using a Nokia N95 Black.. :( It's typical though, whenever I think I've decided, another phone comes out and I end up not doing anything..

If the new generation phones are likely in January or early February I am tempted to wait..

Well everybody was expecting them in April to take on Mr Job's updated apple product. But it seems LG couldn't wait that long. The optimus 2x is due for release in Korea in the new year and to Europe soon after.

Totally agree my Desire contract is up in around 6months and will just be in time for the dualcore to be perfected and any bugs to be ironed out, unless your phone is dropping to bits nows not the time to be upgrading to a new smart phone and i wouldn't upgrade to a Samsung anyway there build quality is poor the GalaxyS is plasticy and so is this and its like the Nebook all these phones are running very similar hardware to my Desire and ive had that 14months 1Ghz cpu and so on. My missis has just had the DesireHD and its a beautiful bit of kit but not really anything new just a bit more ram and rom it wont be till we see the Dualcore that things really take off.

Sony is meant to be bringing out a phone integrated with a PSP that might be cool.

Most of the single core phones are good enough, if you keep playing this waiting game you'll wait a long time. I did this when the Motorola Milestone came out, then waited for the Nexus 1 then waited for the Galaxy S. Wish i'd just gone for the Moto Milestone a year ago.

There are definitely times when it's prudent to wait. The last such time was just before the 1ghz phones came out. They are all the rage now. The next tipping point is the dual-core phones. Will be a fundamental step up and worth waiting for (as most high end phone will have them within the next 3/4 months). I love my desire, it will be current even with the new phones and it's nearly 9 months old (timing is everything).

I use an iPhone, does that mean I have to troll, talk crap then vote cold?

Dont forget guys that the dual core's are probably going to cost a lot more. And as others pointed out, if you wait for their price to drop, then by that time there will be something new around the corner.

Also I don't think I need more CPU at this time for the things I usually do on my smartphone. I think that instead on investing on research for processors etc, the customers will be much more happy if someone can come up with something clever for increasing the battery life.

Nope that's the android gangs job :)

Pay the extra 50 for an iphone I'd say.
#32
or you could pay £325 for one from CEX and have 12 month warranty so same as new ?

You might have to wait about a month for them to actually post it though oO

may be this one has got flash and ginger bread already on board.
#34
Do bear in mind that this will get honeycomb first and other OTA upgrades from Google without flashing or waiting on operators. Some will pay for that privilege alone.

Why, in the name of Jehovah, would you want a dual core CPU in a phone (unless you're v high on the autism spectrum)? It's stupid gimmicks like this that could lose Android the war against Apple!

You crazy fool heh

http://www.tech366.com/2010/12/lg-optimus-2x-dual-core-android-lg-optimus-2x-smartphone-specifications/

The same reason that computers have used dual core CPUs for the last five years or so. I think your statement is absurd, and I'm sure you'll be eating humble pie come the end of 2011 or just forget that you said it. At least it was a myth that Bill Gates said you only ever need 640K of ram, sadly you actually did say that dual core processing in phones is a gimmick and thus not needed.
