If something states that it can be charged from a USB port on a computer, it can be charged from this. Simple as that.
#6
i'll probs get one, cheers.

I bought one of these over a year ago for under £2 delivered, very good though, saves alot of hassle.
It should charge a PSP ok as i have been charging my PSP for months using it.

Have a look at the original psp slim charger if its 5v and less than 500ma rated then this will charge it if you can get the correct lead with the correct polarity, I know the fat psp charger is 2000ma, so this would not charge a fat psp
#10
Great find. Just ordered a couple. Hot
#11
Well it would, but it would take longer - assuming the fat PSP charges via a USB connection, which I imagine it doesn't if it takes 2A, because it would break the USB spec.
#12
Perfect - thanks!

Just wondering, the iPod mains charger has a USB port on it. Would it work with any USB device...?
#14
Play also do 3 in 1 charger packs for phones that include a mains plug like this, a charging cable and a car adaptor plug for only £2 more. I needed the car one as well so went for that.

WRONG!

No offense but it is exactly this sort of comment that can leave buyers disappointed. Read the spec, the unit is rated at only 500ma, if your device requires more than that it will not charge/run it.

I know from experience that my Blackberry 8800, which WILL charge from my laptop will NOT charge from such a plug (I bought another cheap brand a while back). The BB simply says 'insufficient power to charge this device'

Check the requirements of your device before purchasing this sort of thing.

Perhaps you should check your facts a little more carefully before you shout "WRONG!" like that? Did you know that a USB port of a computer is specified only to supply 500mA? If it happens to supply more, then that's just luck, but devices which are designed to charge from a single USB port will be capable of charging at 500mA (and that is why devices that need more come with splitter leads that plug into two USB ports). If you don't believe me, do some research on the USB spec.

Well either your BlackBerry or (more likely) your cheap USB power supply is faulty. You're being a little cavalier accusing me of misleading people on a sample of one.

In an ideal world it should be as simple as that, but in reality it doesn't seem to be. I'm after such a charger for my Creative Zen V Plus, which I currently charge via a PC USB port. Having looked at several Creative forums, users report that some chargers like this will work, whereas others won't. It's not obvious why this should be the case - unfortunately it doesn't appear to just be down to the supply current.....

Can this be used for my DS??

You can easily get similar devices from a few sources at cheaper prices

1000mA $4.28 (or about £2.10) free postage - 10 days delivery usually.

Ebuyer £2.57 + Postage

Microdirect £2.47 + Postage

As for the charging. In theory any device that can charge from computer USB will charge (a normal desktop is 500mA) - HOWEVER, laptops are known for weaker USB port current. in addition, some devices breach the standard. This is the reason most USB 2.5" portable hard disks come with a booster cable that plugs into a 2nd USB port, so that they can draw additional power.

Most devices will work and for a couple of quid its worth a try.

Not always. iPods are very finnicky. I have a few. The first generation shuffles refuse to charge with anything except Apple's own overpriced usb charger. Similarly, the iPod Touch will only charge from my laptop.

I have a couple of these usb chargers - a cheap no-name version charges my iPod 30GB video, however, one supplied with a Sony-Ericsson usb cable, which nominally produces more than the usb minimum and supplies 1000 mA does not.

Too much of a lottery for my liking.

I agree. I've bought 3 of these USB chargers (again non-branded) and none of them charge any of my iPods; a Shuffle, 3G iPod and a Classic. Most powerful USB charger plug that I have is a 1000mA version. Seems to charge everything else without any problems though.

Just got mine & it DOESN'T work in my ipod !!!

I seem to recall the play discription saying
"ipod etc"
Now says nothing about ipods...

I likewise had 3 of these at Xmas from Ebuyer for my sons Nano, one after the other as I assumed they were faulty and they kept replacing them. None of them did the job and I read somewhere that they will trickle charge a Nano overnight, so not much use really. I wouldnt rush to buy one of these till theres some feedback.

Doesn't work with my PS3 controller or my Sony NWZA818 MP3 player.
Waste of money for me. Will try my wife's iPod.
Anyone tried the returns policy on goods not fit for purpose (Sale of Goods Act)?
