Ni No Kuni Essentials for PS3 only £10 at Amazon. If, like me, you fancied trying this after the masses of positive comments on HUKD when it's been on sale on the PS3 store, but didn't want to fill up masses of GB on your PS3 hard drive, then maybe now is the time to buy!

I ordered mine just before Christmas and it's out for delivery today ... remember to choose Amazon under more buying choices for this price and they'll ship it when they get stock in.

Dont bother, you'll get fed up with hearing the word "Neato", and constant mashing the X button on the ps3 controller.

I struggle to justify buying this for £4 in the sale.

The real time AND turn based combined combat system is just frustrating...

More than double what it's been digitally. I know there's trade-in value on a physical copy and all that, but it's hard to get excited by this price. Not voted either way

is this game really good? Got many different views from players in the past and now.

Wanted to hear before buying.

Bit harsh I think.
Each to their own but personally I loved it as I'm a fan of studio ghibli.
In truth it can get quite repetitive in a Pokemon kinda way and it requires some amount of grinding. Don't recall button bashing at any point in the game, that may explain why some people struggled I guess.
The combat is not frustrating if you do it correctly. Had very little issues until one of the final battles.

But the graphics, story, music and characters carry this game through, Drippy is magic.

I agree, not sure what katchiib was referring to, but this is a brilliant RPG with a mix of both Japanese and Western styles. Took over my life for a while!

Hated it. Didn't care about any of the characters one jot. Can barely remember their names. Played it right to the end just to feel as though I got my money's worth.

Boring for me, and I love RPGs.

Just got round to finishing the initial story last really enjoyed it. I picked it up in the psn sale for a few quid but a tenner is a great price for any jrpg as most are over £15 for the physical game

love mr drippy :)

Good price though I'd prefer the limited edition version for it's future value

Funnily enough, I really didn't like mr drippy (not even one bit. Every time he spoke I wanted to ram the controller down his throat). From the reviews Ive read it seems if you like the characters you will enjoy the game, sadly for me it really was not the case.

I finished the main storyline but did not bother to go any further. I read a good few reviews before purchasing it, and really thought I would enjoy it. However I really think this game is a lot like "marmite".

Dont get me wrong the animations are wonderful, but like I said before its the combat system that I really took a dislike to.

Also I think the BIGGEST letdown of this game was the handholding. You were never really left to solve anything on your own. For an RPG I dont know if the right phrase is linear. Maybe im too used to the Zelda style rpg...

I love ghibli movies. This game had interesting story, AMAZING visuals and music I just couldn't get into it. Quit after around 15-18 hours. Shame really.

Brilliant game, you're playing an anime movie, that's how it felt, hoping they make a sequel or collaborate with ghibli again

The combat was not that good. But the world, atmosphere, graphics and art style were incredible. And it had some genuinely humorous, and touching moments. It is possible to play the game with the JPN soundtrack, so you won't get so sick of the "neato" (which I don't think was that annoying anyway, he's only a kid, an idealised American kid at that, so it fitted in with the characterisation. Not really any more annoying than the kids in ET or something). But the English voice acting was really good for once. Even I'll admit though, towards the very end, I was just rushing through it to see what happens. But it felt like a life boat in a stormy sea of mediocrity at the time. It's certainly worth a look, especially at this sort of price.

It is more expensive than the recent digital price, but you need 44gb of space to install it! On that basis alone, it's hot at this price

It wasn't bad. It just wasn't great. There are other games that have done the turn based/action combat hybrid thing much better. It would have been more fluid and involving if they just stuck to one or the other. The combat is a bit of a bum note more so because the rest of the game is so good. And since you're going to be spending a significant time in combat, it takes its toll on you eventually. But still, the experience is worth it.
