The first in a trilogy of films, based on the sci-fi books by Sergei Lukyanenko. Ancient prophecy foretells that one day a "Great One" will arrive who can end the apocalyptic battle between Light and Dark conclusively. That time has finally arrived... but which side will the Great One choose? Set in contemporary Moscow, the story follows an other-world battle that upholds a 1000-year-old truce between the forces of Light and the forces of Darkness. For centuries, the undercover members of the Night Watch have policed the world's Dark Ones -the vampires, witches, shape-shifters and sorcerers that wage treachery in the night - while the Dark Ones have a Day Watch that in turn polices the forces of Light. The fate of humanity rests in this delicate balance between good and evil but things are about to change...

Bargain. Excellent film. :)

edit: Availability: No longer available to order

Ah well :(

It says it's no longer available to order. :(

Edit: Oops, I got beaten to it. Still, people seem to like this, so I'll make a note to look out for it in the future.

It's not as good as the sequel, Daywatch (in my opinion, of course). If you want to get it,I wouldn't get this version anyway as it's the 1 disc version and so doesn't have the funky subtitles that are available on the 2 disc version.

Is the idea of hotukdeals that every time I log on, there will be another spurious DVD movie from a less well known internet retailer for a couple of quid?

I was enjoying this site because it was a bit better than that - especially as most people are able to find a cheap DVD without much trouble at all :(

Have started to find hotukdeals a bit less useful since people started posted individual bargain bin DVDs :(

I don't think that's the right movie. Nightwatch (or Nochnoy dozor to give it its Russian name) is something different.

Didn't realise there was a trilogy! Only seen the first two (Daywatch and Nightwatch). What is the third? Is it out yet?

i disagree with this beej...this is a gem of a film for a gr8 deal! does any1 know the cheapest you can get 1 & 2 for? or special editions..?

Nightwatch is far superior to its recent sequel Daywatch, great deal at £1.99. I think it was Russia's highest grossing movie of all time. The third of the trilogy, Duskwatch, aka twillight watch, is being filmed now.

If you enjoyed the films read the books x4 by Sergei Lukyanenko
The Night Watch
The Day Watch
The Twilight Watch
The Last Watch (released later this year)
See Amazon (and other book bookshops)!

funky subtitles are part of the movie like another charater

Given that the cheapest UK price seems to be £12 for just Day Watch (@ Zavvi) then it's maybe worth pointing out that you can get the Night & Day Watch boxset from Amazon @ £15.98 & Play @ £15.99.
(Looks to be single disc versions of both but I've not spotted a 2-disc of Day Watch)

Cheapest current prices on Night Watch by itself look to be -
£6.79 on the 2-disc from Blah & 101CD
£4.95 on the single disc from DVD.CO.UK (£4.99 from HMV with 9% Quidco or Play @ an even fiver)

I've not seen Daywatch, but I think this scene from it one of the all time coolest car stunts in a film.
