I bought this a couple of days ago, and it's a fantastic jacket. Loads of neat little features and details you don't normally get even in some top end jackets of this type. Arrived just in time for the downpour up here in sludgy old Cumbria! :-D

decent price.. seems the going rate is around £100 so still a good deal. I dunno where they got £280 from!
#3
Don't forget up to a fiver Quidco too
#4
Good price.

Cheaper than Amazon by about £15

Rufus, can you take some better pics of the jacket please

It's weird, M and M direct's ebay shop are flogging these for £99.00 lol. £280 isn't that unusual for these types of jackets. Those touristy type shops in the Lake District where people with more money than sense shop while on holiday, would flog these at near the RRP!

To add to this. This isn't your usual Craghoppers-type outdoor jacket.

This is the sort of thing you want when it's really bloody cold out. In fact, you'd probably be about right on top of Ben Nevis in the Winter.

That ain't me in the pic, I'm much better looking than that :p

Sorry. My camera is loaned out, otherwise I'd oblige.

It's much better than the pic. Has a clever inner belt/girdle type thingy to stop snow and drafts getting in, it also stops my pants slipping up and down while on my mountain bike! Spattered mud/sludge can't really cling to it either for some reason, must be the properties of the outer shell. Seriously, this is the wisest £64 I've spent in a long time. If I'd spent double the asking price I'd still have been chuffed!

Yeah go on Rufus, please upload some pics. The only image I can find on the jacket on the web is the same as the one on MandM and that looks like it might be trying to hide it's full features. It looks OK in the pic but it might be hideous in reality.

You got that right! I was out on the bike, stopped off for a rest near Ennnerdale Water, it was absolutely pissing it down and cold with it, but I was warm as nowt else, in fact I had to put my hood down to cool off a bit in the rain & wind!

VDisillusioned, your right mate. The pics for this are sparse for some reason?

Absolutely same jacket but in red is £129.99 in TK Maxx
In looks much better in red, but for this price it's a steal.
#11
Free delivery code didn't work for me, but 10% off code did work (VC64).

Plus there is 3% quidco when using a voucher code and £5 quidco for registering and placing first order over £50.

Before quidco the cost was £61.58, after quidco the cost should be £54.74.

Not quite sure what you mean. Is it hideous but just really nice and warm? :)

Can't see it in red on their site but I presume this http://www.tkmaxx.com/View-All/NIKE-MENS-INSULATED-JACKET/invt/31602861 is it in black. Looks OK with a bit of a mad hood :) may order now.

Yeah, that's it. Looks gank on that menequin though, and in black, not so good. The Olive/Khaki colour looks much better in my opinion.

I swear down, you'll be chuffed when you see it

EDIT: They don't use Royal Mail, so it takes about three days, which isn't bad. The local 'Catalogue' woman dropped mine off.

This looks really good for the money would rather have green over red anyday.

Anyway I already have a Timberland green jacket like this and an AF one so no way I can get another one.

Bargain though.

Rufus, what is the sizing like? Hate to pester you but is it generous or slimfit? I'm about 44" chest so always on the cusp of L/XL. I want a warm coat that I can wear little under when it's cold but I don't want it to be too tight.
#20
It is a crazy looking hood... Anyone know if it's removeable or stowable??

Thanks

Suprisingly it is not huge and baggy like many coats, it's not slim fitting though either, just about right. I'm 43" chest myself and got the Large, and it fit's me like a glove, so I reckon 44" might be pushing it just a tiny bit. I was also worried it may be hugely oversized (from past experience) and considered the medium, but I know that would definitely have been to small now.

You have a slightly awkward chest size, as XL will probably be a bit baggy on you, but the L will be quite snug fitting. Depends on your preference probably. You won't want to wear anything thick or chunky under this anyways, you'd be boiling!

@ webrits: The Fur collar is removable, the hood it'self is not. It does not hang down like in the Tjmaxx pic.

Thanks for the reply, I think I will go for the XL. The times I will need this is when I would rather be snuggled up in a "tent" than standing around in the cold and wet :) I have a surprisingly nice Regatta 3in1 jacket for when I want to go out and be active, walking etc. Respect added.

Can you detach/hide the hood off this?

In comparison ot similar jackets at the £60 - £80 range, this is way and above the quality and features you'd get at that price mark.

Don't disagree it's a good jacket but as soon as you get a bought-in 'designer' name on these things the price goes crazy. I stand by what I said: this is about what it's worth (so it's not a bad buy but not a super bargain either).

Yeah, gotta agree with you there, people tend to mentally add extra value onto a brand name, regardless of wether a cheaper (less well known) brand is the same quality or better.

Mine arrived today. XL fits me just right, though I was a bit concerned when I put the hood up and it went down over my forehead to below my nose, then I found the hood adjustment cord :) Lot's of pockets, nicely made and with a subtle pattern. I haven't tried it outside yet but it feels warm. The colour and fur reminds me of my green school parka all those decades ago, perfect :) Cheers Rufus.

Nice one mate, I'm chuffed for you  Yeah, the hood needs adjustment alright, otherwise it's kinda flopping around like your some kind of triffid or something! lol

I love mine, I feel so nicely enclosed and warm when it's sheeting it down! :-D :p
