Anyone had one of these??

what are they like?

Husband has one - you need the newer lots of nike trainers as they have a slot to put it in (last 2 or so years). Also they can not be used on the ipod classic my nano is fine though
#7
I have the Adidas Micoach which is pretty good - took a while too decide between this and the micoach
#8
is the nike sensor impact based or motion based

if the later does simply putting it in your sock have the same effect with the stupid expensive pair of nike trainers
#9
The new nikes have a thing under the insole where the sensor fits, for all others you use a tiny little velcro pouch that comes free with the ipod nano armband - the armband is £5 or £6 at a specialist running shop I went to in Holborn. They have other branches so google 'em!

One thing to note is that the battery in the sensor is not replaceable so once it runs out it is useless (so I imagine they will start selling them on their own soon) and AFAIK has an on/off switch, so probably better to attach the little velcro patch to your laces than have to pull it out of your insole every time.

I think it senses motion rather than impact.

They really are pretty good, nice to get some stats of your running. And its not the most expensive thing.

I just use a velcro holder that goes on my lace.

Nike do sell them on their own... £12 before any discounts.

Its motion i think.

i've got one and they are fantastic. the only thing that has made me get off my butt and run regulary.
i bought a velcro band from ebay , the sensor goes on the velcro and threads through your trainers. I had a probelm with the sensor after 10 months of constant use, went to apple shop and they gave me a replacement for free. you must get one highly recommended
