Wish they would simply leave the thead alone then. How can a decent 120 quid pair of popular footy boots discounted by 78% to 26 be a cold deal. The mind boggles:?

nice!! cant play football in this weather though but great for summer.

There is a good reason they are on sale.....

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/watchdog/2008/11/stinky_trainers.html

and read the update as well.....

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/watchdog/2008/11/stinky_trainers_update.html

I can speak from personal experience..... this deal stinks.....:p

You don't even have to wear them. Take a brand new pair. Pour some water into them. Drain. Wait a couple of days. Make sure you put them in the garage.

Voted HOT even although I don't play football - these boots look absolutely stunning, especially in black.
#11
Nice boots got these last time they went down in price. WIsh they did the moulded version!

The Mercurial line is the other boots that stink badly if gotten wet. I saw the list from Nike at Sports Direct and it is the entire Total 90 and Mercurial lines.

My young lads (7yr) got a pair of Nike 90 trainers and they stink rancid. It wasn't until we saw the Watchdog program that we realised it was the trainers and not his feet that made them hummm.. Like was said in the program, they smell like cat urine. My lads are also kept in the garage.

If it wasn't for the fact they are now 6 month old, they have gone back.

I had to laugh the other day whilst in Sports Direct, walked past a sales guy trying to reasure a customer that the stinky Nike Watchdog program was a load of rubbish. Said he'd only ever heard of 1 pair of trainers being returned because of the smell. I didn't have the heart to spoil his sales pitch :whistling:

I don't see the problem.Football boots are woren during a football match or kick about. You take them off after and have a wash. The boots won't be on again until next time you play.So what if there's a bit of a smell. You only notice this when they're off your feet. Some people making a fuss about nothing as usual.

When I went in with my sons two pair, they knew exactly what it was before I even opened my mouth. The cash guy said "Nike?" I held the bag toward him and he said "not as bad as some I've smelled". I still had the Nike boxes (they great for storage) so he got the details off the labels and handed the bag to his coworker and said "out back with the rest of them". They had outside storage setup because they could not keep them in the building from the smell. I had my son keep the boots in our detached garage between games unitl I went in there on a warmish day. Thought something had died in the corner.

You notice the smell if they're in the same building - If you can imagine walking through some dog mess and then leaving your un-cleaned shoes in your hallway for a few days.

They stink - :viking:

Take some ammonia and spread it around your house. Now tell me its just a little bit of a smell. It smells like you've had forty cats in the house for a month and no litter box.

Seconded, be prepared for blisters, really poor boots (yes i had a pair of these)
#30
nice price, but you've got to be good to wear bright coloured boots otherwise you look like a plonker - which is the only reason I won't be purchasing! H&R
#31
Just emailed this to my brother. Does that mean I don't have to buy him anything for Christmas since I've saved him all that money???
#32
I didn't know about the smell problem. My son had these boots & I blamed the cat for the smell. I thought it must have peed in them!

Thanks for the info about the smell. My lad has had his outside since the first time of wearing because they pong so much. The cat was actually blamed for wee-ing in them. It is a real stench. I will be taking them back for a refund as per BBC Watchdog

How do you work that one out mate? IF they are the ones that smell then you send them back and get a refund (including return postage)...

How will that cost you anything?

Read the comments attached to the Watchdog articles. Many all ready tried various sprays to no effect.

Not to worry, took my boots to a nike shop yesterday and got a full refund, no arguments.

Clarkei

we are not all smelly, I took my lads' other trainers and school shoes in when I went to complain to show them that his feet do not stink, or even smell a bit.

For all of you that think it is a bit of a smell and we should get over it, pop into a nike shop and ask them to give you a sniff, then come back here and let us know what you think...

It is like something died and festered in a warm airing cupboard, then it was joined by it's mates in a mass suicide. Then after a couple of weeks the airing cupboard door is opened and the cat goes in and pees on them and dies (from asphyxiation) on top of the heap, The door is closed, the heating turned up, and then when you want some fresh sheets you open the door of the airing cupboard and the neighbours call British Gas emergency number.. I do not exaggerate....:p
