To be fair, you should only vote cold if it isn't a bargain, i.e. you can find it for the same or cheaper price elsewhere. Can you? The rest of your post is just your opinion on the camera. This is a bargain forum, not a review site.

I just got the P4 which is the same camera without wi-fi for £123 delivered from Morgan Computers a couple of months ago. I looked for the P3 but couldn't find one for less than £180 delivered

Very solid case, looks like it can take some abuse! Takes excellent photos I've used it from scenery to motor bike racing with good results. Has lots of functions so getting the wi-fi link at that price seems good to me.

I know the camera market moves very fast and not long ago they were £250+ for £99 it's a lot of camera for the money Voted hot

This is a cracking lens; gets good reviews at Steves Digicams;

I agree, but not many of them will be of this quality. Remember, higher megapixels doesn't necessarily mean better photos - it's more important to have a good lens and sensor etc.

Of course they can, and I can keep telling them this is a site for finding bargains if I want, if they want to discuss the merits or demerits of the quality of a product, then there are specilist sites for that. But thanks for the advice all the same. :whistling:

No worries :)

bargain!

Voted hot..

Would go for one myself if the optical zoom was a bit better. Also would need to know if the wi-fi was wpa(security) capable..
#15
I've been checking this out myself, and according to the manual I've found (click on the Download PDF link here: http://www.retrevo.com/s/Nikon-P3-Digital-Cameras-review-manual/id/200dj490/t/1-2/ ), WPA/PSK is supported :)

Def not a COLD!

I bought the P2 six months ago for the same price! Brill pictures. I used to be a 'Canon' man but Nikon has 'em licked these days.A very versatile camera.
The wi-fi is a bit of a gimmick as you have to set up the printer to accept it but there is a certain degree of one-upmanship printing off a photo taken two minutes earlier from thirty metres away without going near the 'puter!!
Definately HOT!

Wifi Security = not an issue. Surely the wifi can be switched off (for battery reasons). No ones gona rob your photos!!!

The issue (if it is one) is with connecting the camera to an existing home network that uses WPA. You wouldn't want to have to reconfigure your home network every time you wanted to connect the camera to it.

Well said...I think it doesn't get emphasised enough! This is a BARGAIN FORUM for Pete's sake...not a site for expressing ur opinions!

I think some people are a bit harsh on some deals for the wrong reasons too! This camera has a 3.5x optical zoom, the majority of cameras of this class have a 3.0x so this is better if even only slightly. There are a few that have 5x or more, but they tend to underperform in other areas (including picture quality) from the reviews. Believe me, I've been looking for my next camera upgrade for a few months and this is still the frontrunner. Just not sure if I really 'need' a new camera... :)

By all means everyone should give helpful advice or reviews, but it is a bit unfair to vote someone's deal cold because of a personal niggle about a particular aspect of an item. If I feel that way about something I think it's best not to vote it hot or cold and just state the problem I have with it as it's my personal opinion and may not be relevant to anyone else.

At the end of the day this is a camera that gets some great reviews apart from IMHO one or two relatively minor points. It takes good quality photos (the main point of a camera after all) using a good quality lens and sensor and all that for under £100 delivered.

I'm voting hot!

BTW, gone up to the previous price of £105.74 (although it was previously £117.49 so still a bargain!

gone for one of these cheers op

will replace my battery munching kodak c875
#26
I've gone for one too. Wife was annoyed a she hadn't seen it and our last camera took quite 'dark' images. She also said it looks chunky???

Only hope it doesn't let me down! Someone tell me it's a good choice please!

It's a good choice if you really need Wifi connection.

Which i don't really:whistling: . Does this make it a bad choice?

Voted hot....

I REALLY want a new camera and do not want to spend a penny over £100 but want at least 7mp. As the prices seem to be very competitive at the moment I am gonna hang on for a month or two and then pick one up..... Might even get a 10mp for my £100 budget :)
#30
its saying £105.74 delivered for me, is there anyway to get the price down?

Might I ask why you want so many mp's?

The price on ebuyer changes quite frequently - sadly this went up not long after the OP spotted it for £99.

No not a bad choice, but I believe that there are better options around for similar or less money, if you don't need the Wifi.;-)

Don't be fooled into thinking that more megapixels will mean better photos, MP is purely a measure of how many pixels the sensor has. The main thing to find out about is how the data from the sensor is compressed to give you your final image. For example, you could have a 7MP camera that doesn't compress the image very much, but a 10MP camera that highly compresses images. The highly compressed 10MP images could actually look worse than the image from a 7MP that uses less compression. My old Coolpix 2100 (2.1MP) gave me better images than a friend's 4MP camera and it was all down to the amount of image compression.

My advice is to read the reviews and see what you can find about how compressed final images are at the best settings. Also, this camera has a very good lens/sensor from the reviews I read which also have a major influence on your image quality.

Cheers,

B.

Fuji F20 £89.99 at Argos ( use search )

Fuji F31 at Tecno at £114 using code OOTD5

Panasonic FX 01 at Argos at £99.99 ( use search )

The 2 fuji's are rubbish, the only other the panasonic is the only worthy competitor to the Nikon...:)

I have ordered this Nikon p3 for £105 it is the class leader, there really is nothing else out there to touch it for the price..
#39
My next compact will be a model that can be used anywhere and anyhow ya like. I'm seriously considering the Olympus Mju 770SW.
I'm fed up with cameras that you have to pack away as soon as a raincloud appears on the horizon. A camera should be all about functionality and durability, not wi-fi. I've no problem with USB leads personally.

The 2 fuji's are rubbish,
:

That is only your opinion, not shared by many that own them.

They both give fantastic performance in low light conditions, far better than the Nikon, also battery life is almost twice that of the Nikon.

Certainly not " rubbish ".

The only real benefit of the Nikon is the Wifi capability.
