Note that any lens without auto focus built in will be manual focus only for this camera.. This is the basic entry level DSLR that Nikon did but has now been superseded by the d3100 with an upgraded sensor 14.2 compared to 10.2 megapixels), an upgraded image processor, hd video (with AF) and live view. Same low end ISO handling and shutter speeds mind, but the VR 18-55 that you can get with it should help more in low light...

You are sort of right. You need any af-s lens to autofocus with this camera, the older af lenses use a scre drive from the camera to focus, which this model doesn't have.

The d3100 is way better for high iso, but has recently been augmented by the d3200. Vr lenses do help in low light, as long as you're not trying to shoot something that is moving!

Price update as already mention above my post - Thanks for posting and should be a lot hotter!

Great entry level camera, so much better quality when stepping up from a bridge, but expect to pay slightly more for extra lenses with auto-focus motors built in (AF-S Lenses). Although DSLR's tend to hold value very well so easy enough to sell on if you upgrade to a new camera body.

Had this camera for a month and sent it back. Worse DSLR I have ever had. Better waiting for D3100 to price drop.
